Would you take 3-4?

Our best guess is that Romo is gonna miss 7 games.

So my question is simple: if you had the option right now to take a 3-4 record over the next 7 games for an overall record of 5-4 and then get Romo and Dez back healthy, would you take it? Or would you pass because you feel like we could do better?

I really believe we will do better. Our D is only going to get better and they are pretty good right now. They will keep us in games. Any game..

last year or the year before I would have said yes, but I think this defense deserves some respect and I think over 500 is possible.

I think we can do better. Atlanta wasn't all that impressive to me in either of their two wins. Double Julio Jones and live with White or Hankerson beating you. Tevon Coleman will be out as well. New Orleans likely lost Drew Brees for the year. New England was great offensively against Buffalo, but their defense got shredded. Bills ran for 160 yards. Pittsburgh had success on the ground against them without Laveon Bell. No reason the Cowboys can't duplicate that running success. While our DL may be be as stout I believe our secondary and coverage linebackers are better.

Then there's the fact that we get three major boosts to the defense. Two explosive edge rushers in Hardy and Gregory. McClain in the middle paired with Lee is gonna be something special for us. With two superb downhill backers like that good luck to teams trying to run against that. They're also stout in pass coverage. McClain would be a great matchup for Gronk and can give him fits because of his size, strength, and length.

Really the rest of the games seem winnable. You've got Seattle, Philadelphia and New York again, and possibly Miami.

Absolutely - getting Romo and Dez back at 1 game over .500 with 7 to play is a recipe for at least a wildcard, if not the full blown division title still well in play. Anything better than 5-4 with those two coming back is tasty tasty gravy...

3 and 4 with Weeden would make the Cowboys 5-4 when Romo hopefully returns. Looking at the schedule I would take my chances at 5-4 with 7 games left with Romo. There's too much potential for disaster with losses every week with Weeden and no Dez so 5-4 would look pretty good with Romo back. One game over 500 with 7 to play gives you a solid chance to make the playoffs.

I hate to say it, but yes.

I feel like Weeden should be better, but I just know he isn't.

And I think 9-7 can take this division.

I think it's probably eight and the only games I think we have little to no chance of winning is New England and Seattle. All the others, I think we have a good to OK chance of winning with Weedon.

Falcons don't really scare me from what I've seen.
Saints scare me with Brees at QB but who knows?
Giants did nothing against our D. With all their WRs back, maybe but will they all be back?
Eagles were horrible, even with no Dez or Tony, against us.
I think our Defense, with all our DLs back, will make it real tough against a rookie QB in Tampa.
Don't really know what the Fins are yet but they lost to the Skins.

good post. I do worry about RoMac with his first game back being against Gronk. I think it will take a couple of games for him to break the rust free and get in game shape.

Our OL and run game will be key during this stretch. They have to get better.

The way the NFC East is shaping up 10-6 could win the division so any record with 7 games left that gives us a chance at 10 wins I'll take.

Yes, I'd take 3-4. I believe that's our best case scenario, looking at it realistically.

You bet I would. Some people thought 5-4 or so even at full health with this tough early schedule. We could then still go 12-4!
