Would you take 3-4?

I'm guessing Byron Jones will be on him a lot.

Could be, if Jones is in the game. Gotta figure that New England would like that match up as well. Gronk against a Rookie. Both teams might want that match up. Will be interesting to see who wins that, if that's what we see.

Don't need it. Randle gets 80, McFadden gets 80 and there's your 160 rush yards.

Easier said than done we've gotten a total of 163 rushing yards between them in 2 games.

Uh, dude, middle linebackers don't cover tight ends. Like ever.

Ugh dude like I said he's the best matchup for Gronk size wise and strength wise. What is so hard to understand about that? Lee was often matched up with tight ends when he played Mike in the past. No it doesn't happen all the time, but when you have nobody else out of the line backing core that can matchup with a guy other than your Mike backer then you have to go with that matchup. None of the safeties have the size to defend Gronkowski.

You're out of your mind if you think that Ro Mac will be in coverage on Gronk.

I don't see what's so crazy about it. Again if any of you can actually read from a size and strength stand point McClain is the best matchup for Gronkowski. As great as Lee is he's too small to handle Gronk. Doesn't mean they'll be matching up one on one the entire game, but I believe you will see a lot of it because of the problems McClain can create with his length and size.

Our best guess is that Romo is gonna miss 7 games.

So my question is simple: if you had the option right now to take a 3-4 record over the next 7 games for an overall record of 5-4 and then get Romo and Dez back healthy, would you take it? Or would you pass because you feel like we could do better?

I'm not as down on Weeden as a lot of others. I think 4-3 is very possible and 5-2 is somewhat doable. Maybe that's the homer in me, but that's my take.

I really believe we will do better. Our D is only going to get better and they are pretty good right now. They will keep us in games. Any game..

So, you believe the defense will score points and prevent the other team from scoring? The offense can set on the sideline and cheer the defense?

I agree. I think 5-2 on paper if we play well and do a much better job of executing but realistically, even if we fix some things and everybody plays well for us, 4-3. Things just happen in the division and I suspect that either Philly or NY will win one.

Without predicting an exact record or anything... if we're just one or maybe two games out of first place in our division (or tied/leading obviously) after 8 weeks when Romo comes back... we'll be in the playoffs.

Just because McClain has some size, it doesn't mean that he has the coverage skills to handle someone like Gronk. Despite his size, he's still 3 inches shorter than Gronk and not near as elusive.

I'd take it. a 3-4 would give us 5 wins 'til Romo returns. If Romo could handle getting us a 5-2 record in the last seven games, then 10 wins could possibly be enough to get us into the playoffs by virtue of a fairly probable best record in our division.

Good question but the simple answer is that you don't concede anything. Our defense should be getting even better soon.

And you could certainly be right. Again, probably the optimistic homer in me, but I'm seeing a NY and Philly sweep. I'm basing my optimism on the defense not only continuing to play lights out, but improving as some players return. I don't know how much of yesterday's domination was a poor eagle offense and how much was great defense (probably both), but that's the best I've seen them play in a good long time.

Don't get me wrong. I've seen absolutely zero from either team to make me think that either one could beat us but I've seen a lot of NFCE football and for whatever reason, it happens every year. Still in all, I'd be real happy with 4-3 if we could manage it.

I know exactly where you're coming from when it comes to the divisional games. I'll put it this way, you won't find me placing any wagers in vegas on those games.

Take it in a heart beat and would not think twice.

I would take whatever record was the division lead or at the very least a game or two back by when we get Romo back and later dez...
