Here’s the proposed trade from Bleacher Report:

San Francisco 49ers receive: CB Patrick Surtain II
Denver Broncos receive: 2024 first-round pick (No. 31 overall), 2024 second-round pick (No. 63 overall), 2024 third-round pick (No. 94 overall)

The Niners could shore up a weak spot on their roster and set themselves up for sustained success by acquiring cornerback Patrick Surtain II. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, they tried to swing a deal with the Denver Broncos that would have sent Surtain to the Bay Area at this year’s trade deadline but ultimately declined due to a high asking price.
While the Broncos would presumably like to keep Surtain around for years to come, they’re facing major financial ramifications from Russell Wilson’s contract and have been reeling from the loss of draft capital in that trade. Getting a plethora of picks in addition to cap relief—Surtain is eligible for a massive extension this offseason—could potentially sway the Broncos into making a move

What is left on his contract, and the 5th year option as well.
A new contract would need to be worked out.

Right now Dallas has no cap room to do anything even if they could swing a good trade.
Cap issues again, prevents them from making a move when it is there.

Seriously, if we needed a CB I would absolutely trade #24 for Surtain. But it is not really a significant position of need. Then again, Surtain, Diggs, and Bland would be the best group of CBs in the league.

Surtain is the real deal. Any team would want him for the right price.

Don't be surprised is he winds up with the Eagles or Commanders.

Eagles and Commanders are so far from contending that if they want to give up 2 first rounders for him it would do more harm then good.

Would Denver like to trade us Garett Bolles?

That crazy s.o.b. had one of my defensive linemen in tears in 2015 when he was at Snow College.

He was probbaly the best offensive lineman I saw in junior college.

$15.75M cap hit in 2024...nevermind.

So trade 24 and 5yr contract for Surtain and 2 yr contract and maybe franchise assuming he want hold out for 10 games. It’s gonna be hard enough to resign Bland. There’s just so much cap you can tie up in one position. With the 97m contract already given to Diggs makes this trade infeasible. Sounds good in a fans head but we got too many holes that need addressing more than just 2 years with a CB!
