Would you trade Parsons a la Herschel Walker?

Would you make that trade now? I think it would be a no-brainer....you do it.

We have seen what a great dynasty can be built having all that draft capital...

how old are you?

no way in hell. We have a chance to win a title right now. You do not trade away those opportunities for the FUTURE.

In 1989 we were nowhere close to a title, so it was a no brainer.

Walker was on the back side of his career already nobody really knew. Parsons will probably still be the top of his game at least 5-6 years

Gee, a 27 year old RB with one season and demonstrably low intelligence vs. one of the best defensive players in the league.

No responsible GM isn’t going to explore trading a generational player that’s made their defense one of the best units the organization has had in 30 years. Parsons has made our defense so good we’ve won 4 straight games with a backup QB. There was a time when the Cowboys could never win a game with a backup QB mainly because their couldn’t stop anyone. Games were put on the shoulders of their QB.
I said But it will never come to that.

No, absolutely not. That's how you destroy a team. Hershall Walker was a sensational runner, but not a team leader. Parsons is the heart of this defense
PS- My apologies for misspelling Herschel Walker's name

Any player is tradable for the right price. But for Parsons I'd want something like 2 firsts, 3 seconds and 4 thirds.

In the past couple of days I have seen the title of this thread and grabbed keyboard to respond to the asininity of the idea it possesses.

Then I saw the OP's screenname and decided I need not add to the inanity posited here.

But my weakness, and wavering to retort, and waste more interweb space is my debility.

Trading Parsons is to intelligence what Rosie O'Donnell is to he/she canoodling.

I wouldn't talk about it and risk demoralizing the team, but with this coaching staff it would definitely have to be considered.
Under Garrett it didn't matter how much talent you acquired- he'd waste it.
But if you know you would have a qualified staff to lead them, it is at least a consideration.

Seriously, I know Parsons career is just getting started but we may be looking at a generational player. If he stays healthy Parsons and starts to elevate his game to ANOTHER level, he will go down as the best Cowboy to EVER wear a star on his helmet. So no, I would not trade him for multiple first rd picks.............

The Hershel Walker trade worked because Jimmy Johnson had the drive, determination, the discipline, and the vision and conviction to know what he was looking for and what he wanted to build.
Under most coaching staffs in today's NFL that much talent would likely be wasted, and the staff and the talent would simply be gone in a couple of years.
With the rookie cap, 5-7 years would be the limit and the window you would have to make it work, so a team would have to know they had the coaching staff that would stick with it.

To claim that a Hershel Walker or Ricki Williams trade for a single Dallas Cowboy with Will McClay at helm is stupid...is stupid.

My assertion is that this is a team sport and you need 22 total decent starters to win plus depth.

Let me state my stance. I would not trade a generational talent QB for the above proposed trades. Nothing against Parsons...love him...but a single player(non generational young or high upside QB) trade for many multiple high draft picks with Will McClay at helm something you dont say "hell no" to.

I can't see trading a generational talent in "hopes" of getting generational talent. Add that multiple picks in return also means some will be second rounders and I don't trust the Cowboys to hit on second rounders and that means it's a no.

Generational talent only really matters with QB, imo. Parsons and Dallas are in a terrific situation on defense since Parsons is surrounded with talent that can force issues on other teams having to send extras to contain him. Parsons on a bad defensive team doesnt really matter. We could argue that maybe Parsons value is as high as a MaHomes or Allen or Herbert since Parsons is surrounded with talent that can frustrate offenses. That being said...I dont know how many holes Dallas needs to fill with the bounty from a Parsons trade. Dallas seems pretty good all around so the trade doesnt make sense to me unless you could swing a trade for a Rogers and hope to win 2 or 3 Super Bowls in a small window.

I will go one further with this...if Philly is so good talent wise and Parsons is a hometown Hero in Philly and a Philly diehard himself...Id consider asking Philly what players and draft assets they would be willing to part with. Then see if those players are needle movers to the weak spots on our own team.

No.

Fans here got stupid on Jimmy's success in the Walker trade.

Stop.

This ain't Herschel Walker. This is a guy who people are already calling the best defensive player in the league.
