We traded Herschel Walker because we sucked and needed a bunch of draft picks to rebuild the team. We’re coming off 4 straight wins including 2 wins over the Super Bowl teams and fans want to trade away our best player. Lol The Cowboys were winless when they traded Walker. The insanity never stops here.
I don’t think he thought the entire thing through. Never mind the salary cap issue. It would present. Keep building this team through the draft. That’s why the patriots were so great for so long, so many number one draft picks. And Brady obviously

Yes, if I had a bad team going nowhere and needing a complete personnel makeover to fit what the new coach needs for his system. That’s why Walker was traded. If Dallas was a playoff team, a young talented team that Jimmy thought he could win with, he would have never traded Walker.

But Dallas, while still needing some improvements is definitely a team on the rise, talented and poised to be a perennial playoff contender. Trading your best player now would be stupid…..for what? The draft picks to use on WR, OG, DT?
Really depends on if you feel Dak is that guy.
If you don't, you could use that draft capital to get a franchise QB.
Parson's is great, but an elite QB would be even better.

I think when talking 3. 1st rd pick, 3. 2nd rd picks as well as a 3rd and a 6th for 1 player I say sure any day of the week. Having said that Minn was stupid to do this and I seriously doubt we would see any team now days make a move like that for a single player

While I understand that Walker started his career in the USFL, but through 3 NFL seasons, Walker was a 26 year old RB with *one* thousand yard season. *One* season with 8 or more TDs.

And 5 games into the 1989 season, he was averaging 3.0 yards per carry on an 0-5 team.

Trading him was a no brainer.

If he were 23 and leading the NFL in rushing on a 4-1 team, there’s a zero percent chance he would have been traded.

That was a once in a lifetime deal.
This is all just a speculative fun exercise.

Count me in Floatyworm! Parsons is going to wear himself out before he turns 25. Besides another reason to do it is that Parsons will go wherever DQ goes once his rookie contract is up. Makes sense to stock up on draft picks while you can. I like your thinking on this!

He's too important to the defense. You're passing up a load, but this guy will be in the hall someday. RB is a RB. A versatile defender with theses kind of skills don't come around too often.

Every man has a price and if the bounty was to be big enough and the players involved good enough with high draft picks then you have to do due diligence as a responsible GM. But it will never come to that.

It would be a no for me 'cuz they had already taken Michael in '88 and Troy in '89 so those building blocks were already in place.

And no, I dont give the likes of Lamb as to equal Irvin and definitely not Sleepnumber as to equal Aikman no matter how many here mistakenly want these current guys to be those true all time greats.

So no for me. A Herschel type trade this time without already having 2 offensive HOF's on the squad is not in the best interest. This team is poor at QB evaluation/drafting anyway so I'll keep the next LT and continue to roll the dice with however the draft plays out.

Nope. I would continue to be surround around Parsons with good talent … try to make this D as elite as possible. Try to ride Parsons to that Super Bowl…

The ideal situation for a generational talent is one such as what Parsons finds himself in now. A defense loaded with talent...not him being the superstar on a subpar defense and team. Teams focusing on Parsons with doubles/chippers is leaving a gap for another angry dog to come through your fence.

This is the perfect situation. Almost makes Parsons value higher because offenses just have too much to stop. I might actually think long and hard about if Mahomes or Allen would be worth it because of the current situation on defense. Its really perfect.
