Wouldn't it be great if our 'backups', k.o. the 'Skins' playoff hopes?

Talk about ending the year with a 'Bang'! I am looking forward to seeing how well Stanback (as many on this board have stated) is doing, along with Alan Ball, Courtney Brown, and maybe even Doug Free. And of course, anything Terry Glenn can gives is a bonus! Happy Holidays everyone!

It would thrill my soul to see Dallas put the final nail in their coffin for this season.

Don't count on it. If our backups play the majority of the game, expect the Skins to make the playoffs.

I don't like it, but backups are backups. It's not like 1992 when we had Pro Bowl backups.

The drop off from our starters to our backups is pretty severe.

The X factor in this game is Julius Jones, I think he should get 25 carries - and actually contribute at some point this season. What better way to end his Cowboy's regular season career, by going off for 150 against the Skins.

However this is JuJo, so very wishful thinking.

Part of me wishies the Packers had won last week. It would have been great to see the Skins hopes of making the playoffs destroyed by our starters. But it would be great if the backups did it too :D

The backups on a SB-caliber team, WIN games such as this! If our bkups are not as good as '92 we won't have the same results in the POs as that team. It's as simple as that...

There was no FA or cap in 92 to deal with which made is a lot easier to keep solid depth.

I pray it happens. I would laugh my arse off if our backups beat skins. :laugh1:

Aren't they playing most of their backups, anyway (not by choice, obviously)?

I totally disagree with you. Our backups are very good and BJ is no Tavaris Jackson. BJ's arm may be weak but he's a very smart QB and knows where to go with the ball. I think this is going to be a good game and I see us winning it and sending the Foreskins home. They are extremely cockey right now and primed for a butt whuppin. They've won 3 straight but look at the QB's they've beaten, Eli, Rex, and Jackson. I'd take BJ over all 3 of those cats. We will WIN at FedEx!!!!

Yup, they are. However, many believes we can't beat skins and some believes we can't win with starters as well, go figure.

How difficult it is to obtain or keep good backups is not the issue here. If you don't have the personnel, you won't have the result....

I think this will be a difficult game to win. Washington's entire season is on the line and with Dallas sitting some and very well could limit other starters it would not come as a shock if we do not win. I think if Dallas can get off to a quick start and weather the emotions of the skins at the get go then we may walk away with the win but it is hard when one team has everything on the line while the other doesn't.

Wow. Have you been hibernating since '92?

I guess Jim Sorgi was the reason the Colts won the SB last year.

Few teams have the kind of backup Dallas had in 92 not even the Pats. Dallas in 92 was 2 deep at almost every position and many of our backup could have started on most teams. Today you may have a few position on your team where that is the case. Colts will play Jacksonville this weekend and according to what is being reported many of their starters will be sitting and the likelihood of the Jags winning just shot up big time. Because no teams #2 are going to go out and beat other teams #1's thanks to the cap and parity in the NFL teams can't overcome losing several starters. So to say "If our bkups are not as good as '92 we won't have the same results in the POs as that team." and that some how dictates how this team will do in post season in my opinion is wrong

Fed-ex will be in an unbelievable frenzy. If they get up early and keep the crowd involved it will be extemely difficult for us to say the least. The buzz in DC is rabid. Our primary advantage is that we should be the looser team, it's a rivalry game still, and we can get payback for last years debacle at Fed-Ex..

I think our front seven backups are excellent. It is the CB backups that concern me.

Against the Commanders I think our D can hold up fine if we send a lot of pressure on obvious passing downs. The Skins seem to have a few pass plays that are very productive for them, Cooley down the middle and the deep outs. If we play a zone to protect against those specific routes I think we will do fine. I think our front seven can contain Portis pretty well, backups or not. Hatcher, Bowen, Johnson, Carpenter, Spencer, Burnett are just fine.

On offense I think that B Johnson can dink and dunk on the skins and be productive. Jones and Barber will be playing, Witten is going for 100 catches and I firmly believe that Johnson is a better QB than Collins.

Whoa, over Eli? Even though Eli does suck, hes still way better then BJ.

I think it will be a good game but the Commanders will win it.

Come on man, nothing is guaranteed, even with backups, you just never know who it will turn out. Perhaps you meant "should", don't know.

How many times have we've seen our lesser opponents say "on any given sunday" comment?

I think we have a good shot with backups in second half, and I believe we just might pull it out in late 4th quarter.
