If the Pats who have a system that Welker thrives in doesn't want to sign him to a huge contract why would anyone else? No team is smarter than the Pats they know exactly what they're doing. Welker is at an age where most players start being asked to take pay cuts and get released for cap space. The Pats know Welker doesn't have but maybe a couple of more real productive seasons in him which is why they're allowing him to test the market. Once Welker sees no one is going to be willing to break the bank to sign him he'll resign with NE.

Or they'll sign another pretty good slot guy in Amendola, plus Boldin can play the slot too.

If some team is foolish enough to sign Welker to a mega free agent contract that's exactly what the Pats will do they'll go out and sign Amendola at a fraction of the price and have him pick up where Welker left off for the next 4-5 years. NE is a smart team that's why they compete for SB's every year.

I know I know this ain't Madden... But Dez plus Welker

Welker is way overrated. He's only a product of a system.

And what do we say when Welker leaves NE and they cant find a guy to hit the 100+ recepetions mark 5 times in 6 years.

Hes got pretty ridiculous numbers for a system WR. I must be the only guy who thinks Welker can play

Welker is awesome and uncoverable for the first 8 yards from the line of scrimmage. That being said, WR is the last place we should be spending money on this offseason, unless it is to extend Dez.

The Pats have tied a lot of money up with Gronk and Henandez, who the see as their future. This makes Welker expendable at the wrong price, but their TE's are injruy prone and them needed him down the stretch. I think Welker would excel with Romo the same way Robinson did, but with Dez's future contract and Austin's current one it makes it impossible. Imagine having a quick little outlet pass to save Romo from the pass rush, it would really help the whole offense.

Brady was quoted as saying one of the main reasons re-did his contract was to help Welker sign. I would imagine with a comment like that coming from Brady the Pats would heed. Secondly, we have a quick outlet in Beasley. That's faster.

Receiver is the last place Dallas needs to be spending money. JMO of course.
