past history is irreleveant. so is 25 points vs 2 points... BUT we've been throttled before with a "dynasty" team (24 point margin).

10/5/2002 L 7-31 @ Philadelphia
9/6/2002 L 16-35 @ Washington
11/12/2005 L 20-38 San Francisco

we also lost 2 in Dec in '95

I guess you're not seeing my point. My question is...has any Super Bowl participant ever been blown out by 25 or more points during their Super Bowl season? My point is Super Bowl teams lose during the regular season, but they don't get blown out like the Cowboys did tonight.

My point is not pointless. I asked a simple question. Everybody wants to think this Cowboys team is a Super Bowl favorite. I respond Super Bowl favorites don't get blown out, in their own home, by 25 points.

Any given Sunday and all...yeah right, after 40 plus years no team getting blown out by this much as ever made it to the Super Bowl (AFAIK), much less win it.

Losing a game is one thing, but to lose by this much??? Again, I ask, what Super Bowl champ (or runnerup) has ever lost a game by 25 or more points during the regular season?

Dallas got stomped by Philly the year they won the first superbowl in the 90s.

Were those dates supposed to be about 10 years earlier? I think that is the source of some confusion in this thread.

The Cowboys lost by 24 points then and it was at their house. But your point is taken.

Exactly what I thought. Why in the hell did we stop running the ball in the first half and go pass happy?

we've been a pass-happy team this whole year

except for today it didn't work

props to the Saint DBs

failed 1st time vs NYG when he inserted Romo too.

it was a brutal mistake and needs to be fixed. in this case it was deplorable, as we were running thru NO for 1st downs on first down. just stupid.

Romo played like crap no butts about it, do we need to worry about him?

No, your point isn't pointless. It's just wrong.

Of the 32 Super Bowl participants since 1990, 20 have been beaten by 20+ points during the regular season. Eight have lost by 25 or more. Two Super Bowl winners lost regular season contests by 30+ points. Only one of these games (the Chargers 38-15 loss to the '9ers in 1994) occurred in the last 3 weeks of the season (meaning that these weren't teams that had already clinched just playing out the string).

However, I agree that there's no reason to think of this team as a Super Bowl favorite. To get there, they would likely have to play the Saints again, this time in New Orleans.

so maybe all the Jessica Simpson-Tony Romo talk from the media stops now? We shall see...
