I disagree. With the talent part.

Apologies, Coach. I see Gallup as a true threat as I see Coop needing to be more open to be effective i.e. play calling.

JMO, of course.
you'd be wrong hes known for his ability to get open via some of the best route running in the legue.its the opposite you have it backwards..Gallup needs contested catches because hes not very open many plays.. i wish we could keep them all but that won't happen. given the cap,Gallup might be out because ac might cost too much to cut.

thats why i said PSD on the Practice squads i mean a lot of players being developed seemed over looked..we have some OL and wrs on the PS in waiting.

i think the way the team is paying add in depth we won't be desperate for reaching for any positions. Will be able to truly go best player available. it will depend on who we keep in FA and add etc then use the draft to fill holes.
Yeah good point.

Keeping guys like Fehoko and Farinok were obviously a priority this year with the future in mind.

Edit......side note.....the 2021 draft has a shot to be better than the 2020. Tough to do.

I'd say Fehoko has some ability as well.

All depends on what Gallup is offered but I'm pretty sure some GM that needs to win immediately will think his stats were down because he was buried here will offer him way more than we can pay.
How can he be buried when we have a receiver that's commanding double team defense?

See the post above yours...

Don't get me wrong, Gallup is very talented, but his skill set is different than Coopers. He's a big play receiver, as is Lamb and Wilson....Cooper fits Dak because he's always where he's supposed to be.

Who knows about Fehoko
But Wilson and turner combined should be decent as 3rd WR
I think lamb would move outside when Wilson plays because Wilson is better in the slot than outside
I don’t think they are better than Gallup but you can’t pay everyone and we have other guys who the drop off is much worse such as Schultz or Gregory

Prove it wrong......

Cooper is a better route runner. Ask any beat writer and analyst that covers the Cowboys and they will tell you. Cooper is considered one of the better route runners in the NFL. Gallup is not. For example. here is Devante Adams in ESPN on best route runners in NFL:

"Coop is for sure in my top five, so I just want to give him that credit first because anybody who can influence a DB and really get him to do what is intended every single time -- which is what I pride myself on, if I want to go left, I feel like I can really get you to move right anytime that I want to. I watch Coop's film, too ... The way that we can attack guys and can kind of manipulate a defender, it's between me, him and [Chargers receiver] Keenan [Allen]. The way we move people is really similar, so I've got a lot of respect for Coop."

Cooper has been more productive over the last 2 seasons.

The only thing working against Cooper is his contract but Gallup is gonna get paid this offseason so the gap in pay might not be as big as it is now.

Touche.....I get ya.

Very true and words of wisdom.

Sometimes I can fit the whole foot in my mouth.

Others have also made me re-think my "wisdom".

You are all big jerks!!! I'm picking up my toys and going home!

I do wish we could keep him...he's bailed out Dak on a few passes with his toe drag swag...

Cooper is generally up against a teams best or second best CB depending on if he moves around
Gallup is generally against the 3rd best
Gallup in this offense is much like Harper was
A good player who can do some really good things but not against a teams best
I’d love to keep Gallup because he’s a weapon in this system but he’s gonna get paid and we have other players who we have worse options to replace them with
It’s not that I don’t love what he brings to this team, it’s just about being able to pay him and keep other guys
If there was no cap I’d sign him in a heartbeat

One thing we can all agree on
If there was no cap then we’d all love to keep Gallup

Nah maybe you took it wrong.

I'm saying they will justify his reduced numbers with him being the three here.

I dont see it that way. I don't think he is a one on another club.

McCarthy likes to draft WRs and usually big WRs.

Notes about Green Bay drafts in McCarthy era:
10 of 13 years they drafted at least 1 WR.
8 of 13 years they drafted 2 or more WRs.
12 WRs in McCarthy's final 6 years.
Only 1 drafted WR under 6' (Randall Cobb).
Drafted 3 WRs in 2018 and signed UDFA Allen Lazard (6'5, 227).

Green Bay WRs drafted during McCarthy's tenure as Head Coach
Year ….. Ht …... Wt …..... Player
2018 ….. 6'3 ….. 205 ….. J'Mon Moore
2018 ….. 6'4 ….. 206 ….. Marquez Valdes-Scantling
2018 ….. 6'5 ….. 214 ….. Equanimeous St. Brown
2017 ….. 6'1 ….. 220 ….. DeAngelo Yancey

2016 ….. 6'1 ….. 188 ….. Trevor Davis
2015 ….. 6'0 ….. 216 ….. Ty Montgomery
2014 ….. 6'1 ….. 215 ….. Davante Adams

2014 ….. 6'3 ….. 219 ….. Jeff Janis
2013 ….. 6'2 ….. 215 ….. Charles Johnson

2008 ….. 6'3 ….. 217 ….. Jordy Nelson
2008 ….. 6'1 ….. 200 ….. Brett Swain

2007 ….. 6'1 ….. 190 ….. David Clowney
2006 ….. 6'0 ….. 198 ….. Greg Jennings
2006 ….. 6'0 ….. 188 ….. Cory Rodgers

Looks like the Packers hit on 6 of the 19 WRs they drafted.

Exactly. If it's Coop at 20 or Gallup at 12.....Cooper is a no brainer.

I think that's where it's headed.

and Cooper is the better rout runner. I would also say Cooper contract likely gets restructured to free up cap space.
Yep. His, Dak’s & D Law’s contracts are like an ATM. I normally would say Zeke, too, but I suspect they’re not interested in adding time on it.
