I'm saying I wouldn't be adverse to picking him, the flexi, speed and routes will help, however, I just think schematically a WR isn't the best way to improve our Offense (particularly against zonal)....I think we've improved quite significantly at receiver with Cooks skillets and we'd be better off improving the run game or TE.
I disagree.

We already have 4....yes....4 very good TEs. We don't need to draft for another TE.

The run game definitely needs to improve. No argument there. Both at the RB position and possibly Oline needs to be addressed (RB more with a draft pick; Oline more with better coaching with possibly another draft pick).

Make no mistake about it, we need another weapon at WR. Gallup is not guaranteed to ever get back to 100%. Cooks is a nice addition, but he's going to turn 30 years old in September and has lots of wear-n-tear for a WR. The signs all point to this Offense needing another good young weapon at WR, especially since both Tolbert and Fehoko have been duds, plus Noah Brown is gone. Our backup WRs crew is lacking serious talent that can actually start and step in if any of our current starters fail or get injured.

A WR lineup of CDL, Cooks, Gallup > Ferguson & Hendershot.

I think we are ok at TE but it's projecting Ferg can handle #1 loads. The WR lineup is proven, TE not so much.
I'm not a fan of a TE in round 1, but on the other hand there could be several TE's there that have higher upside than the ones on the roster.

As for edge, Lawrence is here for another year then his contract becomes favorable to release along with Armstrong(UFA).

If they have McDonald higher than Flowers, they should go that round.
Josh Whyle is interesting. Reminds me a bit of Novacek.

Nothing remotely special about that group. They may not take one in round 1. But to say you are comfortable with that is insane. There are better options available in this draft.

Yea, I liked what I saw out of Fergy but to say we have 3 good TEs seems like an extreme stretch.

Would love to add one this year.

I'm talking about not having to use any of the first 3 round picks on a TE. We don't have a drastic need at the TE position at this point. Nothing wrong with using a late round pick on another TE.

Fergy and Hendershot combined for 29 catches last year. I like their potential, but unless you’re some kind of Wizard to say they’re already good is an exaggeration.
They are good. The potential is there. They simply need more experience. If you draft a TE early in the draft, that TE is going to have no experience compared to Ferguson and Hendershot, so that destroys your premise of needing to draft a costly high round TE.

No team is concerned about any of those guys when preparing for this team.

If Lamb got hurt, the WR room would then be Cooks, Gallup, Flowers, Tolbert, Fehoko.. Still not bad.
Tolbert and Fehoko? Fehoko has been here 2 years, has a grand total of 3 receptions. Couldn't even get on the field but for 10 of the 37 total games. Tolbert has only 2 receptions and is in his second year.

Neither has any experience to speak of. Tolbert played at tiny South Alabama, so he's got to get used to big time competition before he can start to become productive.

Gallup didn't show much last year, probably came back too early from the surgery, but it's still unknown if he will ever get back to pre-injury level or close to it.

Though you forgot Turpin, he at least has some USFL experience besides college. But most receivers out of college need a year or two seasoning, so I'd still not take Flowers in the first, so we'd better hope Pollard will be as good as most think...

I am not drafting a 5-9 nothing (WR, DB, etc.) in the first round. That is why Jimmy Johnson laugh at Jerry when he wanted Rocket Ismail instead of DT Russell Maryland.

Not how that happened. Rocket Ismail decided to take the CFL offer after the Cowboys had acquired the 1st overall pick in that draft...

The projected first overall selection in the 1991 NFL Draft, Ismail decided at the last minute to sign a record contract with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League starting during their 1991 season. As a result, he was chosen by the Los Angeles Raiders with the 100th overall pick in the draft.

After Bruce McNall purchased the Toronto Argonauts with hockey player Wayne Gretzky and actor John Candy, the Argonauts made Ismail a groundbreaking offer for a CFL player: $18.2 million over four years. The average value of his full contract, $4.55 million per season, was more than the anticipated 2006 CFL salary cap of $3.8 million per team. The CFL had a salary cap in place since 1991, but the rules contained an exemption for a "marquee player" who would not count against the cap. Doug Flutie of the BC Lions was about to be paid $1 million under the exemption, but Ismail's contract was more than anything North American football had ever seen, as his yearly salary was then the largest in Canadian or American football history. By comparison, the highest paid NFL player at the time was Joe Montana earning $3.25 million per year.

If WR Zay Flowers drops to the Cowboys 26th pick in the 1st round, they should take him. Yes, he's only 5'9", 185 lbs, but he runs a 4.42 40 and is excellent in getting open early as well as spreading the field deep, along with running for big yards YAC and making big plays after the catch. He also is experienced in college at playing all 3 receiving spots. Check out his film...

PFF Fantasy Football also believes Zay Flowers would make the Cowboys Offense so DANGEROUS!

What say you? Should the Cowboys pick Zay Flowers if he drops to them in the 1st round at pick 26?

Nope.

This plan ignores the offensive lines failures late last season and nothing truly being done about it this off season. Get a bulldozer (Torrence) and watch the running game flourish. Then the passing game takes a quantum leap because of the rushing attack.

Plenty of draft left for a skill position receiver.

Flowers was one of the first guys that I discovered this year as a possibility of adding an explosive play maker. He looks like a solid player to add to a very good team. It is going to be interesting to see what happens in the draft.
