The dark tone I actually liked. Scully's explanation for her mom's asking for her brother Charlie being the same as why Scully's need to know William is safe and knows he wasn't discarded by her like trash, was interesting.

So what's the consensus here?

I never watched the series ... Is this 6 episodes worth a play?

I understand I won't get some references and tie ins but is it good?

If you never watched the series it's hard to say if you'll like it. It's depends on your genre preference. The new episodes are true to the X-files brand, IMO but I have seen the whole series several times over and like that sort of thing.

Watched first three episodes. I liked it.
The 3rd episode with monster... Ehh... But I'll give it a chance.

I'm officially hooked. Hope it has long series life.

I never really watched the original series. I saw both movies.

I really can't marathon the entire original series.

Can you list a bunch of must see episodes from each season. Great ones and or the ones that would tie in to this mini series?

Home... At that time, one of the most disturbing TV episodes I had seen.

9 seasons and I think fondly of all 9. How do I choose one above any of the others? I can't. You have the rest of your life, watch the whole original series. I'm sorry.

I wouldn't marathon it either but 3-4 episodes a week-- Yeah.

The trouble is you don't start from the beginning you miss the evolution of the "syndicate" which of course was a big part of the show.

Plus it's interesting to see how the characters evolve over the seasons.

Oh and I have to chastise the late episode.

I found it hillarious when he goes on his "trip" and how they filmed it...

However

...Achey Breaky Heart...really...the worst song ever.

And good grief ...is there really a song that says honky tonk badonk a donk? Why do they hate america.

Yeah, but at least it contributed to the overall story arc of the series. The episode before, with the horned toad lizard man, really did nothing at all. This was a monster of the week episode, but it at least tied in to the rest of the series. Like I said earlier in the thread, this is what was wrong with TV 15+ years ago. Star Trek TNG and Stargate SG1 had a lot of filler episodes, which is fine when you are doing 20+ a season. When you only have 6 episodes, it makes it hard to justify it.
