Yeah, but at least it contributed to the overall story arc of the series. The episode before, with the horned toad lizard man, really did nothing at all. This was a monster of the week episode, but it at least tied in to the rest of the series. Like I said earlier in the thread, this is what was wrong with TV 15+ years ago. Star Trek TNG and Stargate SG1 had a lot of filler episodes, which is fine when you are doing 20+ a season. When you only have 6 episodes, it makes it hard to justify it.

What you aren't understanding is many fans of the show like the filler monster of the week episodes. Season 5 Epi 5, "The Post-Modern Prometheus" was epic. Chris Carter knows his diehard audience.

With that season finale, all I have to say is there better be another season. That's no way to end a series. Respect the fans.

Now that was an X-Files episode. The show started by saying" this is the end", is it?

There better be another season!

But hey, this is the network that canceled Firefly and X-Files in the first place so don't expect them to make the right move. That ending screams there is more... the Fox executives better wise up.

So...are they grooming the young scully and mulder to take over the series?

The girl does an ok job...the guy just seems to be a meat Popsicle lol

Well in all honesty the series ran its course after 9 seasons. It was time to put it to bed.

If that were true there would be no reason to bring it back as they did. The principal actors were burned out on their characters and even today are reluctant to a 24 episode season film schedule.

X-Files without Mulder and Skully has been done and it almost sunk the franchise. Do you not remember Agents John Dogget and Monica Reyes? I doubt that is attempted again.

Wrong... Ending the series forever was never the objective of season 10.

Maybe they changed their position? I recall when it was first announced the limited run of episodes was to close out the series.

Then you can provide me a link to the announcement saying just that but since that never happened, you won't. Chris Carter was clear that the reason new episodes were possible was first and foremost, because David and Gillian were on board and then because of current events and technology changes since the X-Files season 9 concluded. He never announced the new episodes would end the series, never! Where did you get that idea?

Why are you trying to be confrontational?

I quit watching the last 2-3 seasons.

I DO remember them doing the Lone Gunmen spinoff and that failing.

Which I kept waiting to see one of the guys, or more, from the lone gunmen these episodes.

The Lone Gunmen briefly appeared in Mulders non-drug trip... Season 10 Episode 5.
