lol, seems that way. I know many are saying we should get Peterson, well his best season in 2012 in 10 game is less than what Murray is putting up this season
at the end of 10 games in 2012 Peterson had 1,128 yards rushing and 7 TD and Murray this year 1,233 yards and 7 TD. Again not expecting Murray to get Peterson type contract but I do think people are under estimating how good Murray is playing

Well, if you really see the big picture, Murray now has a nasty oline to run behind, and Romo has a chance to throw a football without getting rushed.

I give credit to the big guys doing their jobs.

As do I and just as I did when it was Troy, Mike and Emmitt the OL deserved a lot of credit. I tend to think of this as a team game and the OL can take very good talent and turn them into HOF players. Dallas has a young OL right now and our skill position player are producing, our role players have been able to go out and contribute not always the same guy but then to me that makes it even better for this team when different role players can step up and have big games along with guys we expect if from.

And yet, Murray's YPC has not really changed since he's been in the league, despite all the offensive line woes we've had before this year. Guess you're giving credit to guys who weren't even on the team yet?

Sweet post...dude!

See, what bothers me most is that most fans blame a player or two for the outcome for a loss...usually Romo.

But, it takes a TOTAL team effort to win a game, and it takes a TOTAL team effort to lose a game.

That is what competition is all about. Not a golf match.

Yeah and they will rake him over the coals if we lose them and this team falls.

Yep..its a win/win for those guys. The OP's contract offer is probably around what he will get.. I am still waiting on an answer about not being able to sign a good young player we haven't been able to re-sign due to salary cap reasons. I will ask this for as long as I'm on here. ha

Not at all...! Murray now has something to showcase how special he really is....same for Romo, or Dez or Beasley.

The first round draft picks on the oline are paying off.

The way he runs he has a short shelf life, I'm in at 4 years 24-26m. If we had a true home run hitter in the backfield with the holes the OL is creating it would be like Christmas every week. Murray is doing great right now and is what we need, but will he be the same runner 3yrs down the road...not so sure about that.

IMO there is no way that Dez, Murray, Carter, Ro etc can all get paid + possibly be a little more active in free agency this yr on the defensive side. I am almost of the opinion of letting both Carter and Murray test the mkt and if too expensive letting them both walk. Question, do you think the coaching staff sees the yards left on the field by Murray...they must right?

Melton is going to want to get paid as well I just remembered as is Crawford. Is Crawford in yr 2 or 3 of his rookie contract?

4 years $28M with something like 12-14M guaranteed. I think we'd be bidding against ourselves with anything more. Just not a lot of teams lining up to pay RB's big money in the year 2015.

There weren't a lot of teams lined up to pay Brandon Carr but somehow......

Call me crazy, but I don't think we're 7-3 without Murray...

I don't understand how it's so easy for some of you to dismiss what he's brought to this team...

Rb's are a dime a dozen and there are a ton that could run behind this OL. I think you offer him something around 4 years and 24 million.

NO turned down a 5m option on Mark Ingram. They are pretty similar RBs with injury issues and straight line moves. With Murray, AP, Ingram and others available I wouldn't rush to overpay any of them. Plus the crop of top college RBs is pretty solid.

I would offer Murray a 4yr/24m deal with 12m guaranteed and 8m signing bonus. Salaries or 1m, 3m, 5m and 7m.

He would probably make the 17m for 2015-17 and then be released before 2018.

Tell me if I can get AD or not instead of Murray.
I'm no psychic, but I do get the sense Romo isn't as long for this league as some surmise. I'm hoping for 2 more years out of the guy and even that looks dicey.
Compounding that is the rent-a-player defense we're running with a rent-a-coach that makes it work.
We have it better than we've had in years but don't mistake it for providence. To get to this modest level we've had to see a madman at GM hogtied to keep him from taking a media darling in the draft, an injury-prone RB have a career year coincident with a contract year, and get luckier with injuries than we've been in some time (except of course the injury to the advanced-age quarterback).
I'm all for taking the slow approach. If they kept doing it I think it would be best. However, I also believe in striking when it is appropriate and I think we're at that point. For me I'd make sure the Oline gets kept together for the near and long term, but the rest of the team you construct to make the next 2 years, also the last 2 I'd wager, the best possible for winning a title.
But I'm just one crazy guy with a lot of bad ideas so no worries.

That's the flaw in your logic. It does not take a total team effort to lose a game. Think about it, if a QB throws an interception, it takes only one person on that team, the quarterback, to make a mistake for that to happen. For a QB to complete a pass, it requires both an accurate throw and a catch from the team's receiver to make that happen. That is the simplest of examples, and already points out how a single player can lose a game but cannot win a game by himself.

All I know is he is the best RB in the league, this year.

In baseball he we be called a 5 tool player.

Everybody always says Dez is the best player on the field. I'm not so sure. ;)
