Knowing the way most feel about him, what's our option??

I know if we trade him , we take a tremendous Cap hit. but if the D stays as is and schemes don't change (to what ,I don't know) what can we do with a guy who can't cover and everybody knows it.

I like the hitting ,but his coverage skills are suspect at best.

We can't seem to hide him ,and others take advavtage.

Just thought I'd ask.

roy has lost it mentally. after watching MTV cribs yesterday i may have the answer. his house is amazing, hes already set for life finacially if he plays his cards right. he has a 8 foot by 8 foot salt water aquarium he swims in , he has some guy named jim who drives him around everywhere in a custom rolls royce with a refrigerator in the back . I have come to think coverages don't matter that much to him anymore

If we have an option to replace him with, I say cut him now and gain back all the cap room after next year.

Even his hard hitting has been non existant this year.

It may be ridiculous, but I think that if Roy actually redidicated himself this offseason, assuming the loss is half as painful to him as it is to the fans, he can regain his old form and improve his coverage.

Honestly, I just don't think he works at it as much as he should be because he doesn't understand he might have to work twice as hard as everyone else to be as good.

Wade should make him work this off-season and if he doesn't he shouldn't start regardless of how much he gets paid.

Just because a player gets paid a lot does not make them a starter, I cant stand another season with Roy in the secondary. :banghead:

Greg Cossell of NFL Films was on Chris Meyer's show earlier, and when assessing the Cowboys and their loss to the Giants, he said, "Roy Williams isn't an NFL caliber starting player."

At this point, it doesn't matter. If they have to keep him because of the cap hit, so be it. But that doesn't mean they can't replace him. The guy is just abysmal.

We're stuck with him for at least another year, unfortunately.

Maybe switching to his old #38 will get him rededicated. If not, he'll just look fatter.

I think RW is fine and people hate on him because he doesn't make the big hits and is on SC top 10

Very simple solution...Stick #38 on special teams until her learns how to tackle....Then wait until his contract expires.

That was about the only thing he had going for him the last 2-3 years. Now that's even gone.

I figure he will be our starting Strong Safety in 2008. Unless by some miracle we find a better option.

I don't think he is fine. I think his cover skills are way overblown to the point where it's ridiculous. That would be alright, but his run defense/tackling and blitz skills have decrease to now where he's average in that dept. as well, so we've been seeing average safety play from him since midway through 2006.

That would be fine, but Dallas isn't paying him an average safeties salary. Dallas can't afford to cut him, so I think it's a priority of Wade's to get Roy back to playing to his old level.

Roy Williams isn't why we lost the game. Sure he only had one tackle, but the great and infallible Bob Sanders only had three in the Colts loss. Bet there aren't a bunch of ******** threads trying to get rid of him on the Colts board.
