As for your Witten-thing, I made it very clear that I am a huge Witten fan, and for a while, he did go down quickly (more so last year). He remedied that and all is well.

Does John Lynch get blasted as much? He's not exactly the fastest SS out there and his cover skills are suspect to say the least. Surely you'd rather have RW over JL??? Typically your SS are slow guys that hit right?

Name 5 SS better than roy and produce some stats cause this whole RW can't cover thing is getting very old around here....

Let's put this in perspective.Would you take the 07 version of Williams over the 98 version of lynch? Both 5 years into their careers.I bet most would take Lynch in that scenario. I know I would. The current Lynch is at the end of his career while Williams should be at his best.This is a good comparson on another level though. Lynch always showed a TON of heart and a burning desire to win.Can you say the same for Williams?

Laron Landry (yes he makes more of an impact than Roy)

Sean Jones (really stepped it up this year for the Browns)
Troy Polamalu (i know you guys here hate him)

Stats are borderline worthless for evaluating DB stats. If you went on stats alone, you'd think Deion wasn't a very good cornerback.

And don't even get me started on % of passes completed as far as a DB stat, it's a worthless and subjective measure (unless you can come up with data from each coaching staff).

Those attempting to absolve Roy of poor play will cherry pick their stats as well.

However, having said that, I'll provide strong safeties that produced better stats and I'll note players I think are better.

That was pretty quick and dirty. I really don't think Clinton Hart or Sammy Knight are better safeties, but it proves a point about stats.

I thought Bigby, Sanders, Phillips and Jones all outperformed Williams this year. I also think Roman Harper and Deon Grant quietly had good years. Darren Sharper played pretty well. Chris Hope had an off year this year, but has been solid in years past. Ed Reed (who has played SS in the past) is far superior.

Talent wise, at one point, Williams was better than all of them (except Reed). I'm still not sure what happened, but he's fallen off significantly.

Adrain Wilson is my favorite on that list. You wanna know why Roy thinks he's aight? Cause when the players are introduced into TX stadium he still gets the loudest reception....

Watch the games. You notice the guy who wears #31 who gets runned over, fails to tackle people, and is generally in the wrong place at the wrong time? That would be Roy.
