Stats Shmats.

Watch the games. You notice the guy who wears #31 who gets runned over, fails to tackle people, and is generally in the wrong place at the wrong time? That would be Roy.

But hey, if you own his jersey, you gotta defend him right?

Don't own his jersey here you go again making assumptions. Generally in the wrong place at the wrong time? I don't think so he is normally around the ball or making a play on the ball. I think he is doing a fine job tackling but you know stats obviously doesn't matter to you. I'm sorry RW can't cover 95% of the field that you want him to.

That was an issue coming out of college, they knew he wasn't a cover safety, then again what SS is. It's time to move on, I don't see him not playing for this team next year. And if he does I'll sure as heck be rooting for him to do well. But, I 'm funny like that.
Carry on with the rant thou.

He hasn't even been good in any area for a couple of years.

But, yeah, I'll be rooting for anyone on the field with a star their helmet too. Funny, but I can know a player isn't that good and still root for them to do well. I know Reeves sucks, but I still wanted him to make plays for us. Funny how that works.

I think you would tell by physical appearance if he was on/off roids he wasn't go some where with that. It's a shame if he doesn't test positive then it means he isn't on roids don't accuse of him stuff because you thing it could possible might of happen. I would believe brett farve was on HGH or ROids be4 i would believe that RW was that streak is unheard of at the QB position i might add.

First off, these guys wear 50lbs of gear, don't tell me you would notice it watching on TV.

Secondly, you would believe Favre was on it before Roy because Favre is a Packer, and Roy is a Cowboy. Take the homer goggles off man, see it for what it is, Roy is a bad football player.

Hurts me to say it, but the first step is to acknowledge the problem so you can focus on curing it.

Roy Williams isn't why we lost the game. Sure he only had one tackle, but the great and infallible Bob Sanders only had three in the Colts loss. Bet there aren't a bunch of ******** threads trying to get rid of him on the Colts board.

He is paid to be a difference maker.

I like the guy, he is a good player and a good person.

However, he simply is more of a liability, now how would we fare against the run without him? I dont know. It would be a bit different. He is lacking in all areas of pass defense. He didnt even look athletic sunday.

and I never said we lost the game because of him, but himself and reeves were the only areas of the team that gave up plays sunday, outside of the toomer touchdown where 4 guys had the chance to tackle him and couldnt.

He needs to get considerably better or they need to find someone to take his job during the season. As long as the weakness is there in the secondary everything else on the defense is weakened. The giants had the ability to block us in key moments and only had to block long enough for the receiver to get out of his break on reeves or williams or both together.

Neither reeves nor williams make plays on the ball, half the time it looks as if neither see the ball in the air so they just wait till the reciever catches it and then make the tackle.

reeves was worse than mario edwards down the stretch.

It is the most glaring hole in our secondary and critical weak link on this team. Take that how you want to. Like I said, I like williams he is a good person and can still be a solid player I believe, but he just was miserable sunday.

Roy's not a bad player - it's the cameraman's fault for making him look bad.

Without looking, I'm going to guess that his "tackles" this year is up to par with his tackles from the first few years.

Now instead of just burying ourselves in numbers and saying "ok, roy had 80 tackles in 2004 and he has 80 tackles in 2007, so everything must be great.

But considering every qb in the league looks to throw the ball his way, I would guess that he should have as many tackles. I wonder if they keep stats of whiffs on tackles, cause I bet he leads the league.

heh heh heh.

In Yakuza's defense, the camera does go his way everytime a bad play happens. My guess only 90% of the bad plays were really Roys fault.:lmao2:

YOU can't cure anything. All you can do is run your yap on this messageboard without letting any facts get in your way.

And as for Brett Favre, he's had drug problems in the past... Roy Williams hasn't. If the shoe fits...

Knowing the way most feel about him, what's our option??

I know if we trade him , we take a tremendous Cap hit. but if the D stays as is and schemes don't change (to what ,I don't know) what can we do with a guy who can't cover and everybody knows it.

I like the hitting ,but his coverage skills are suspect at best.

We can't seem to hide him ,and others take advavtage.

Just thought I'd ask.

I dunno maybe feed him a biscuit and move him to ILB.

I think we might see Roy play alot as the nickel/dime LB, next year

hopefully having a year practicing there will allow the coaches to put him at that spot alot next year to maximize his abilities, instead of having him run around in coverage

I generally don't complain about a players performance on an internet message board either, praise for me is different. I do enjoy draft talk.

Where have you been the last 2-3 years? In fact, Roy has been a liability in coverage since near the beginning.

Also funny how the guys he plays next to are always his excuse.

You know, maybe some of these guys in the secondary would be better if they had a better safety next to them.

The two most common excuses for Roy the last couple of years have been that he hasn't had a free safety that allowed him to "do his thing" and the coaching staff hasn't put him near the line of scrimmage where he does the most damage.

Well, the team went and signed a free safety who made the Pro Bowl and garnered All Pro votes and moved Roy closer to the line of scrimmage and he responded with his worst year yet.

I'm just amazed that people continue to delude themselves into thinking that his play hasn't declined and his play isn't an issue.

Those who have been paying attention to the steady decline for the last couple of years. The media finally caught up this year.

Exactly. There's always an excuse for him.

Some players make others around them look better. Then you have guys like Roy who have to have great players around him just to make him look average.

I like draft talk as well. I would also think a team message board is an appropriate place to discuss how players perform.

+1 he sure did seem to make a lot of tackles waaaay down field after he had already been beaten.

You're the one flapping your gums about stats this and stats that. You go look em up, I don't have too, I know Roy is garbage.

I dare you to bring some roy stats here from his earlier days and this year or last. I will refute them and make you look ridiculous. Trust me on this.

And if you do find them and post them here, I'm not going to be at a computer again until tomorrow night, so don't think I've dissapeared, I'm just going to be traveling.

200+ activate streak at the QB position is a pretty good reason. He has been hurt also and come backs fast.

Well when your manned up to the best TE's in the league which is a mismatch no matter who you are will be a target. I think your watching the wrong roy the roy i've seen keeps everything in front of him and hasn't given up many big plays.
