When your Strong safety makes zero tackles behind the LOS all YEAR.....he is becoming a diminishing asset in my eyes.

I will readily admit that if that stat is accurate ...... its very disappointing.

I see I have already got you upset. But you can take your pathetic threats else ware son.

As far as those stats ..... compare that with other strong safeties in the league ..... then you and bigbadroy put your heads together and think on why the other NFL players and coaches voted him into yet another Pro Bowl.

Have a nice day.

Are you always this slow? I know you can't ever admit your wrong, even with the "truth" slapping you in the face. His Pro Bowl selection has been covered ad nauseum.

As so many (professional and amateur alike) have said, perhaps he's living off his passed accolades, perhaps they voted for "big" name only or perhaps there are no better alternatives (he's the best looking pig, but he's still a pig).

Don't take my word for it, listen (again) to ESPN's Matt Williamson:

Mike (Washington): My favorite part of the NFC pro-bowl team was that the waste-of-space Roy Williams wasn't on it. How was he 1st alternate.

Matt Williamson: I hear ya there. Undeserving, but...how many good NFC safeties were there this year? Small group.

Z, like I told my 4 year-old son long ago (he got it a lot quicker than you can, apparently), just because you choose to bury your head doesn't make the problem go away.

If you're going to continue to bring up tired, old excuses for Roy, just go back and read my previous rebuttal posts on Roy's play.

Even Adam reluctantly agrees that Roy had a down season. Just accept it.

Are you serious? Everybody and their dog has posted that stat before, so you're gonna claim you've never seen it? Hear that? It's your reputation walking out the door.

You must either be ******** or blind .... I have admitted that Roy had a down season (by his standards)

and if you are trying to convince me with a quote from Matt Williamson ..... well I can see where you get your football "knowledge" from now.

Yet he was still one of the best strong safeties in the league this year. If he was playing free safety he would have had an abysmal year.

He has not played like a Superstar in 2 years ...... but he is far from the weak link on our D.

We have alot bigger problems than Roy Williams as our starting safety and I guarantee that if we cut him right now he would be starting on at least 30 different teams by next year (probably the Commanders)
1st off i'm glad you do see his play declining and what not. second the problems i see on defense are certain players hold our defense back. those certain players imo are akin, roy, reeves, and ellis. here's why

akin: the guy can't cover and is a poor tackler.

roy: we could get someone to play as good as him for half of what he gets paid.he's slow, doesn't make any plays until after the offense gets a 1st down and he takes bad angles against the run and pass.

reeves:nuff said

ellis: he is an olb who will be asked to play coverage from time to time. problem is he can't cover and when he is asked to he shows it pre snap everytime.

What????? Wow, what a backtrack.

Just four months ago, you claimed he was "great," and now you're gonna try to convince us that you've known he " has not played like a Superstar in 2 years."

No way you can insult so many guys as "idiots" and "clowns" and then try to eak your way over to the other side.

Again, before you guys question my tact, go back and look at Zrin's name-calling and ridiculous retorts towards me all season. Now, he wants to soft-peddle his stance on Roy, so I call him on it and you want to jump in. Give me a break.

And in typical fashion, you prove you can't read. I said he was one of many professionals (Albert Breer, Babe Laughenberg just to name two off of the top of my head) share the same sentiments. Again, deal with it.

FINALLY civil discussion. Thank you.
Akin: I totally agree. I have been on a Ray Lewis kick for the last week or so. It's not that he is so great, but he got the fire, passion that this team needs. Newman, Roy, Ware just aren't that type of personality. It maybe labeled as dirty but someone who loves to dish out pain. Like this:
2004-02-15-inside-lewis.jpg

I really wish Carp could do it, but him not on the field really says something.

Roy: his cap hit is too big. I don't see him going anywhere this year. And if we had a better SS on the team don't you think he would have started in his place. He is the best we have right now.

Reeves is gone, so there is no use in even bringing up his name. I pray Cason falls to us.

Ellis: his constant whining to the media has gotten old. It's time to see if Spencer can take his spot. I think he can, but what do I know.

I agree with Akin ..... he is JAG

It would be very hard in my opinion to replace Roy with anything bit a top 16 draft pick and not see a dropoff.

Reeves 5 years ago would have been a good 3rd corner .,.... but in todays pass happy league I think he could be easily replaced and upgraded.

Ellis is very good in what he should be used as ..... our Coaching staff are the ones who cannot let him get in position to be forced into coverage.
Spencer should have been used primarily with Ellis coming in only on passing downs.

Funny how we are not so different in our opinions.

He is still a great football player .... he had a down year and has not played like a superstar the last 2, but that does not make him not a great player.

You need to get over that argument from few months ago ..... if I had known your skin was this thin I would have never laughed at your feeble attempts.

Your back-peddle is about as effective as Roy's and just as pathetic-looking.

That's just like you.

YOU were the first one to ever call me out on this board. YOU didn't like what I had to say about Roy, so instead of analyzing to see if there was actually a grain of truth in my observations, your only rebuttal was childish name-calling.

Now, when faced with the fact that perhaps YOU overstated yourself concerning Roy's play, you want want to soft-peddle your retreat with, yet, more name-calling and insults. With you, all I can do is fight fire with fire, so with everyone else I'll try to stick with talking football.

All I'm saying is that just because you might not agree with what someone says, instead of childishly lashing out, just breath, listen and then calmly and rationally offer up your rebuttal.

Z, He WAS a great player. Now he is barely above average if that.

To say he IS still a great player is just being stubborn and unobjective.
