We need to add speed at RB, Hostile.

4.58 is not speed. Hell, Gholston can cover that.

(In all seriousness, I can't wait to see him play either. I am basing it off of practicaly nothing and realize the odds are stacked against it.... but I think this conversion to WR will turn out very well for us. )

It could work Hos, however, when I watched him in San Antonio up close (although he just ran drills) as he was in rehab, Stanback body look had more of a T.O. impression vs say a MBIII type......I believe our coaching staff did the right thing just by looking at him.

But, those video clips does display rb moves.........Go Cowboys

I think with his body size and type, the possible rewards at WR are much greater and more likely than at RB. As a RB, I don't think you could imagine him being any more than a situational guy. But at WR, someone that big and fast could be special, and that's what Dallas was looking at drafting him, IMO.

If hes not at least turning some heads in pre-season and Training camp then im going to be a little worried about the player.

It usually takes 3 years for a WR to really come into their own.

And that's if they've been a WR in college. We are taking a project player and converting him.

And you want heads turned in 2 years?

Ok. Its your choice. But I think you might be somewhat disappointed by inconsistency etc by him this year. As for me, I'll be excited at what he can contribute.

Does anyone remember Jerry's exact quote about getting help at the running back position and how we might be surprised about how we get there?
Who knows Hos., you may be on to something.

Hostile nailed the Kicker thing last year (which is the ultimate cool thing, since he claims to "hate" kickers, lol)

Could he be right with this?

That's funny because as I read "Hos. nailed the kicker" my pea sized brain had visions of Hos. kickin' his butt off the field or somethin'.

Last year's Draft I was shocked that we took Isaiah Stanback as a WR. My reason is simple, I really thought he was going to be a RB in the NFL. I think he would be much more suited to do that.

Watch the running plays in this video.

The guy has great feel for the lanes and really outstanding footwork. Plus he can run a Halfback Option pass and go out into pass patterns once in a while. If you line him up in the backfield like we do Owens and then send him in motion it is going to be a LB who shadows him, not a DB like they do with Owens.

Think about him on blitz pickups too. He saw them as a QB. He will recognize them better. He's read them his entire life as a QB.

I'd move him to RB and make him the Tyson Thompson or 3rd RB and see if he could maybe even be Barber's backup. The guy can fly.

As the 3rd RB he also has more of a chance of being on the game day roster and there could be an emergency QB if we need one.

If you want to tell me I'm crazy I will understand, but I always envisioned him as a RB. Just thought I'd share.

Yes! Yes! This is hairbrained indeed! :)

I would utilize him everywhere. Make him a Slash. He could cause mismatches at RB or WR or QB if he is healthy this year. We need to get this guy on the field this year.

Perhaps using "nailed" was a poor choice. Because another mental image popped up.

There is some Preston Pearson there... of course, Tom Landry had the imagination and the Xs and Os prowess to envision and to execute a game plan that successfully tapped Pearson's skills. It would be interesting to see Jason Garrett's effort to do the same with Stanback.

I'll admit that I've sort of projected to Stanback some of the qualities of Hines Ward -- though Stanback is much faster, 4.58 or not. I don't know yet whether Stanback has the same toughness. But the injury situation doesn't concern me, yet. He came into camp recovering from an injury, and given the time he missed, it's not that surprising that he was injured again when he returned to action. Time will tell whether he's fragile, but I don't think that's been proven, not by a longshot.

Stanback has many of Pearson's virtues. Oh man, how I miss that weapon! Some of the younger members probably can't imagine the fits Preston Pearson gave defenses. He was a first down machine.

Thinking out of the box is always a virtue.

Could someone remove the knife from my back? Either that or twist it so it hurts a little more and I can black out from the pain.

I also nailed us trading out of the 2nd round when the Giants took Steve Smith, but does anyone ever remember that? Oh no, always the blasted kicker.

Well, I asked for the knife to get twisted so I'd hurt more.

Next time I'll keep my festering gob shut,

It seems as though he has great value because he has the talent to be a wr, rb, qb and would create mismatches all over the field. Since he is capable of playing multiple positions, he would create a problem for defensive coordinators trying to defense us. I like the idea, a lot. I haven't figured out why he didn't see the field last year. I remember Mayock salivating over his skills and saying "Get him on the field".

Jason Garrett needs to utilize his versatility to our advantage.
