How big was Jim Brown? 6-2 wasn't he.

There have been some tall running backs no doubt but the enduring ones have some reasonable thickness to them. Stanback is a strong and talented athlete but he reminds me of the slim jim you can use to open car doors.

Randy Moss looks like a fat pig compared to Stanbach. In his previous life Stanbach was a praying mantis. Ok, I am exaggerating but you get my drift.

To be clear Stanback should have a great pre-season and may become a valuable asset of our receiving corps. Most definitely he can be used situationally even SOME at rb as he is a highly versatile athlete.

Huh? The guy is hardly skinny.

Didn't you read the reports about him last year at TC? The reporters were saying he is as thick and cut as TO.

Stanback is definitely not as thin as Randy Moss. He's got a pretty thick frame on him. Somewhere between T.O. and like an Anquan Boldin IMO. Anyway, I think the best thing we could do is leave him at receiver and let him develop.

He's an intelligent hard worker which to me means he has a good shot of translating his athleticism into a pretty good WR gig.

Whether it's at WR, RB or perhaps even some of both, I just want to see what Stanback can do after all the comments/props we heard Ireland give him. Get him out on the field in preseason and let's see what he can do.

This may be the key here. If he could be 3rd RB and 5th/6th WR you would save a roster spot and then he returns kicks and plays special teams also. I think at this time just use him as a slash type player and find ways to get him some plays.

Then I stand corrected. The shirtless photos of him don't do him justice then. No doubt he is thicker than what I thought but I am still not sure that he is as thickly muscled as T.O.

T.O. has muscles in his feces....

Hmmm.... actually this idea isn't all that farfetched. I mean we drafted him for his athleticism more than anything else right?

Besides, Chris Brown reminds me alot of Stanback in that they are both tall, both very athetically gifted, and both pretty strong. That experiment in Tennessee worked out pretty well enough, even though he was injured all the time. I say give it a chance!

But then again its not up to us... the coaching staff will never see this thread. I can dare to hope though!

Last year's Draft I was shocked that we took Isaiah Stanback as a WR. My reason is simple, I really thought he was going to be a RB in the NFL. I think he would be much more suited to do that.

Watch the running plays in this video.

The guy has great feel for the lanes and really outstanding footwork. Plus he can run a Halfback Option pass and go out into pass patterns once in a while. If you line him up in the backfield like we do Owens and then send him in motion it is going to be a LB who shadows him, not a DB like they do with Owens.

Think about him on blitz pickups too. He saw them as a QB. He will recognize them better. He's read them his entire life as a QB.

I'd move him to RB and make him the Tyson Thompson or 3rd RB and see if he could maybe even be Barber's backup. The guy can fly.

As the 3rd RB he also has more of a chance of being on the game day roster and there could be an emergency QB if we need one.

If you want to tell me I'm crazy I will understand, but I always envisioned him as a RB. Just thought I'd share.

Seeing running lines is nice, but the difference is at RB you have to be able to take constant pounding, hit guys that outweigh you by 100 pounds and drive them back for the tough yards, block rushing DE's and LB's who out wigh you by 30-70 pounds ....... being athletic and being able to handle the physical demands of RB are different things.

I'm not saying Stanback can't do that, but any position conversion is tough, and the physical differences between his college position and RB are much further apart than QB and WR.

QBs take the very same pounding, especially if they run an option Offense. Now he did not at Washington, but he ran a lot. Also, I'm not thinking he is the primary RB, that is Barber. The pounding is not the same.

I didn't need age. I wish you luck with those who disrespect your age when you reach mine and above.

I know you're joking. So was I. That's why I said my age didn't matter for crazy. It's called responding to your wisecrack. No offense taken. Honest.

Lay off the agave. Stanback needs to get on the field for which they drafted him. There are too many experienced running backs out there in the later rounds that have experience picking up blitzes, and catching the ball out of the backfield.

I'd love to see Stanback in the end around pass option mode, but that is the extent of the trick plays he might contribute.
