Technically, you're right. But saying it's a foregone conclusion that this was the call and somehow Prescott throwing the ball away wasn't an epic choke...

Take a good look at the referee, he never even flinches to reach for a flag. I don't think he calls it...I think he lets it go as hand-fighting.
Do you think there was one second left on the clock?

Yeah saying this isn't madden is the go to blanket statement, where you can drop the mike on the floor and walk away. But coaches being too conservative is a thing. Dak having been called too conservative is a thing too, quite the opposite problem Romo had of being too much of a gambler.

Ive noticed you said Dak is too conservative. Have you seen the downfield dimes Dak has dropped, just this season alone?

Just last season, Dak tied Matthew Stafford for 1st place in completed passes of 40+ yards downfield. What's conservative about this kind of play?

Lastly you said, you always ranked Dak at 12? Give me the names of 11 quarterbacks that are better than him according to recorded production. I already who should be listed above him, but its definitely not 11.

Who's your 11 thats better than him, other than the obvious names?

If you believe he'd let that go as hand fighting, why did he call PI on our Bland when Bland was shoved by the Ravens receiver?

anyone claiming there would have been a flag is nuts
you call that immediately
you do not wait

Let me ask you this though. If great quarterbacks like Elway, Montana, Mahomes, etc listen to their coaches instructions, why can't a very good quarterback like Dak listen to his?

That goes back to the topic of this thread, would the head coach tell those quarterbacks to do a throwaway, or would they trust their quarterbacks. Would Andy Read tell Mahomes to do, especially when he knows that Mahomes is the kind of player that can make something happen? Those quarterback you listed also had great head coaches and play callers. What if Montana was in a situation where Jason Garrett was his play caller, and he knew that Jason Garrett wasn't the best at his job? Who would blame Montana if he ignore the play call and went for the win? And in today's NFL, that is allowed in general, anyway.

Its obvious you're not watching Cowboys games because Dak has yelled "kill, kill, kill" on multiple occasions, that means he's audible before. Again, in sports, you play the high percentage situations, not always the riskier route.

I'm not making the claim that Dak can't make a change. I called people marks in an earlier thread, for buying into what Shoddy had said so willingly.

All great quarterbacks don't just take the high risk roads. They do play smart and take the higher percentage angles. You wouldn't understand because its obvious where your mindset is.

The criticism of Dak is not that he gambles but he plays too conservatively at times. High Risk road doesn't even factor into the equation here, because no thought was given, since the throw was always going to be a throw away. If that was the game plan, then he still could've ate a bit of time off the clock before doing so. I okay quarterback might do that, granted. If he is anything as good as some claim on here, he should've read the field, IMO. I don't think the pressure was high on him. That was a non sense argument made by someone else that the ref would've thrown a flag had he not thrown it away.

Great coaches and great quarterbacks set themselves up for game tying fgs or TDs all the time, but you want to paint this pick as if Dak is the only quarterback who shouldn't have.

So you saying there was a great coach and a great quarterback in this game that was setting up the game tying fg in this game? Seriously?

There's a reason why Dak is a successful NFL veteran quarterback at the highest level and you're not. You couldn't do what Dak does. So its a little odd questioning the moves of someone that you've never been or will ever be capable of doing.

Now it is time for the personal insults I see. I could've lost that game just as well as Dak did. Dak is a successful veteran quarterback is opinion and not fact depending on how low or high your standards are. Also someone mention "this isn't Madden" somewhere earlier, which begs the question, what did Madden like to say when you have that much time on the clock on a 3rd down? He'd say you have one more shot at the endzone.

The team didn’t turn on Jason this quickly
The team has not turned on Schottenheimer. Want a real example of a Dallas team turning on its head coach? Google and YouTube the Green Bay game of 2010. Whenever you see the team perform as lackadaisically as seen in that particular game, you will understand what turning on a head coach really means.

See that, that’s my point,
The perception, before they even get a chance, you’re already expected to be negative, because Jerry did the hiring
Just because someone finds success somewhere else, doesn't mean they would find success here.

Coaches commonly say "if it's not there...throw it away".

No coach would just say throw it away...they could just have the QB take a knee if they didn't want to run a play.

People are overlooking the pass rushers being blocked by the RT and RG.
- The pass rushers and blockers are directly in the path of where the pass needed to go.
- The RT's back is almost touching Dak at the point he releases the ball.
I’m pretty sure we didn’t have a timeout left so taking a knee would not be possible.

You don't throw the back shoulder against the press unless the receiver gets a good release and is able to create separation. GP created separation but it was not immediate so rather than wait for some free runner to come sack him Dak threw the ball away. It happens dozens of times every weekend in the NFL. The other thing to note is that the DB never turned his back which is the first indicator that a back shoulder throw would work. And again, this is all taking place in the blink of an eye with a right tackle who has been getting beaten like a drum.
Brother man, it was a timing throw, you know that. Dak has done that many times. What? You want Dak to wait until Pickens says, "Over here, Dak, I'm open, now throw me the ball!"

You throw to a spot that you have practiced many, many times, and if it works, Pickens turns and the ball is there. Or it's not. But who in the heck would just turn and sail it over the moon? That is junior league, as Troy would say. lol

SHOW ME any evidence he was going to throw a flag.
You got nothing

I didn't say whether or not he would throw the flag... im just wondering where all this faith in the refs come from to believe he would have allowed hand fighting, when he previously called a PI on a defender who was actually pushed.... and just because he wasn't tugging on the rag initially, don't act like refs don't throw late flags.

The coach is the leader whether he’s a good one or not.
We've had players go behind the coaches back and speak directly to Jerry in the past. These coaches don't prepare the team to play playoff football and make sure that people get back on the same page if something happens. This coaches don't develop on the field leaders like a team should have. If the coaches fail at leadership, it will take someone to come here one time, who is going to pick up the job they refuse to do.

Just because someone finds success somewhere else, doesn't mean they would find success here.
Well, whose fault is that, he’s a football genius, he would succeed anywhere if he was left alone , I don’t know what head coach, without total control would ever wanna come into a franchise, and put their reputation on their line, only the Cowboys franchise

That is what I don't get! If the Coach said throw it to the moon, then why didn't Dak tell that in the huddle that that is what is going to happen. Why run a freaking reciever route if that was the case?
You want the line to hold their block, need a receiver in the area to avoid a penalty.....or maybe a coach that is on the hot seat is covering up for a player with 1 billion dollars left on his contract....just saying. Lol

That assumes Schnotty actually told Dak to chunk it to the moon.

Did he really say it? We'll never know.... so you're left with believing Schnotty actually said that to Dak, and I have a feeling that might not be accurate.
He could have spiked the ball, but my guess is, Schottenheimer told Dak, if it's not wide open, throw it away. Pickens pushed off, if it had been thrown, that crew would have thrown the flag. Or, maybe Pickens knew it was a throw away and didn't give a crap. Like you said, we'll probably never know.

Ive noticed you said Dak is too conservative. Have you seen the downfield dimes Dak has dropped, just this season alone?

Against the Giants game we should've won, where he panicked early in the game? Against the commodes who are bottom feeders? Or against the Raven's team we had an opportunity to win a game that most people had marked down as a loss before the season started? I mean, I guess you are part of his propaganda machine, where we going to look at everything but being 1-2, which is in the end what matters.

I said generally I feel that way. I've done one of these rating some years back, but honestly, right now, why should I be doing homework you are assigning for me. Also, do you generally judge quarterbacks how well they do in the regular season, or does the post season factor in. We look at the NFL QB Index, and if we believe that Dak is #3 right now and Purdy is #1, so Ranking is a pretty subjective thing. I'm sure you could post yours and I got spend some time coming up with mines, and then we would disagree anyway.

It's so long ago, but there was a particular game when the Cowboys turned on Switzer. I was young enough back then to think wow, so that is what is like when a team turns on its head coach.

If you believe he'd let that go as hand fighting, why did he call PI on our Bland when Bland was shoved by the Ravens receiver?
All I know is that the ref never even reached for the flag not once. Video evidence does not support the Dak-friendly prognostication.
