You guys love Dez, I love Tate more

Tate is basically Mini-Miles. You can't go wrong with Miles Austin Jr.
I firmly believe in having complementary players. A speed and posession at WR.

Having two players with similar skill sets does not allow for much diversity on offense and limits what you can do. Both Austin and Tate are built like running backs and do pretty much the same things. Okay player, poor fit.

ROFL.

btw, Gosslin ranks him at the 41st best player in the draft. I believe Dez was the 10th. I bet your pissed off huh? :laugh2:

Ryan leaf was rated #2 in the draft.... Blair Thomas went #2 or #3 while Emmitt went #17 am I'm pissed why......Was Irvin the first WR selected in his draft or Randy Moss..... Where did Gosslin have Romo or Miles rated coming out of college, since Goss is such an expert

Oh I think he has some of the best hands in the draft, but their styles of play couldn't be more different. Tate is more Steve Smith (Carolina) than he is Fitzgerald IMO.
Derrick Mason is the better comparison. Tate doesn't have the explosiveness that Steve Smith has despite the 40 time in shorts.

If we go after Dez than it is to replace Roy Williams next year.

What I want to know is if the Cowboys would pull the trigger on Demaryius Thomas.

If you like Dez in round 1 than surely you like this kid too. Especially since you have proven you can develop receivers with good measurables like it is nothing.

You continously forget about the people who only want Dez because he is a blue chip prospect. Out of all of the "blue chip" prospects, Dez is the most likely to fall. So, the people out there who firmly believe in taking talent over need are in his corner.

Ah, good call on Mason. Steve Smith might also be the toughest player in the league.

Tate is a great fit. Slot WR who can return kicks, run some wildcat, and can project to take over RW11

No doubt, he brings a whole new dimension to any team. I just don't know if he's #27 material.

Despite my dislike for the Golden Domers, I would not be mad to see Tate land in Dallas. I've seen enough of him to know that he is a gamer, and every team needs a few of those. I would however be pretty upset to see him come to us at # 27.

At the risk of coming off as a complete ND homer, I have to say that explosive and tough are words that describe Tate perfectly. Though I wouldn't say he's as explosive as Smith. As far as toughness goes, he's basically like a RB in open space (Played RB through HS, switched to WR when he got to ND). He'd often run guys over and it was not uncommon for you to think he was down, only to see him emerge from a pile of 3 defenders and take it to the house. This, along with the vice grip-esque hands I mentioned earlier, became routine for him over the last couple of years at ND.

For what it's worth, I'd prefer Bryant as well since I think his ceiling is a bit higher and he could be that gamebreaker that takes this team to the next level. However, if we got Tate I obviously wouldn't be disappointed. As long as his talent translates to the pro level, he will be a great player. The character, toughness, work ethic, etc., are all there.

Dez can't get up and get the ball at its highest point like Larry can.

Luckily for Dez Romo doesn't throw the ball up for his receivers to make a play very often.

I think the receiver nobody is talking about that would fit perfectly here is Damian Williams from USC.

Wrong. I think you should go back and watch some videos of Dez Bryant. Dez actually reminds me of Roy Williams a bit during his days at Texas with his ability to go up for the ball.

Tate's my favourite as well. No problems with him. Just get a good football player

The tape doesn't lie, he doesn't run away from people like Steve Smith. He has good field speed but not elite. And a comparison to Derrick Mason is far from a put down. The guy is a tough receiver with great hands despite only being 5-10 and under 200.

Ideally we would trade back to the top of rd 2, acquiring another pick in the process then pick Tate and I would be fine with that.

Hey man I'm down with Dez Bryant. I'm all for having explosive players everywhere.

I'm just worried about protecting Romo next year. Especially if Bennett and Barber leave.

I've probably seen way more Dez than you and it took the guy forever to make a play in a big game.

The guy isn't much of a leaper. He is a spitting image of Terrell Owens on the field.

That is an interesting though. Barber and Bennett can both pass protect. Barber is the best pass protecting HB we have.

As for Bennett, Phillips can do his job. Though receiving wise, Phillips stinks at it compared to Bennett.

He has a 38" vertical.

Not the best of any WR in the draft, but it's not bad either.

Funny...I have the exact opposite opinion. I think Philips has shown to be more than reliable as a second TE at receiving; which is why he started catching more passes than Bennett towards then end of the season. In my opinion, Bennett's blocking would be missed, and that's what sets him apart from Philips.

I believe that isn't correct. The whole reason Phillips even got on the field was because he could in fact block. I think the reason Bennett was losing playing time was the fact that he wasn't prepared when he got on the field. (lining up wrong, running the wrong routes, etc)

Barber is probably hands down the best blitz pickup back in the NFL.

And if you want to have any shot at stopping our passing game you have to blitz us.
