Is it too early? Premature? Or should we let things play out some more?

So a lot of fans were upset the Cowboys didn't make any moves this trade deadline.....and praised our "rivals" for making moves because it shows they "want" to win. I asked at the time why trade future compensation just for a trade that won't work? These deals rarely work. You fix weaknesses in the offseason not deadline. A lot of people combatted that comment with "Oh but the 9ers traded for McCaffery".....the 9ers built on a strength. Their run game wasn't weak before they got CMac so completely different situations. But anyway, let's see how these moves are looking thus far...

Lions traded for DPJ from Cleveland.......ehhh.

49ers traded for Chase Young...thus far i'd probably say this is a incomplete. Hasn't been bad probably more good but was better with the Commanders.

Vikings traded for Josh Dobbs...I mean this was a great trade. They are starting to tail off some but Dobbs to just come right in and learn that system and string off some wins...gotta give credit where its due.

Seahawks traded for Leonard Williams...yeah I like the guy as a free agent pick up but for a 2nd rounder and a 5th?

Eagles get Kevin Byard...the move that sparked so much criticism on this site...come to find out Titans knew what they were doing and he's a shell of his former self. Just like the rest of that secondary.

Chiefs bring Mecole Hardman back....nope

Falcons traded for Van Jefferson....

Dolphins traded for Claypool....NOTHING.

49ers get Randy Gregory....they didn't give up much. Had a nice sack yesterday. Pretty much regulated to just a pass rushing specialist now.

Cam Akers to Minnesota....

I say this to say that sometimes not making a move is the right move. When LVE got hurt....it forced our guys to step up now we feel a bit better about guys like Bell and Clark and they're playing the best football of their young careers. Didn't trade for a running back and we're getting more out of Pollard and Dowdle. This team knows its personnel. Maybe this organization didn't make a trade because they TRULY "like their guys"?

I made a post months ago about being thankful for the moves we DIDN'T make over the years. With every player always linked to the Cowboys, i'm thankful we didn't bite. Kudos at the trade deadline for not making these moves, I was actually happen to say "we like our guys!"

In alot of cases it was a sellers market. Commanders and Giants got good compensation for their DL. Seattle overpaid for Williams, a 2nd is probably at least a round too high for Sweat who is going to a FA. A 3rd for Young seems about right. A little high for an oft injured FA to be, but he has been having a strong season and they are in win now mode. None of those three would have been good moves for us. We dont need Young or Sweat. Williams maybe, but not at the price contract and compensation wise. He probably isnt any better than Odighizuwa

Still a little early to say, but a lot of the moves made have amounted to nothing.

Except for SF. Are Gregory and Young jumping off the page good? No, but that depth is serious.

I felt like there weren't a ton of moves out there for Dallas to make this year, but still ruing Roquan from last year.

I think it’s way too early to make any blanket opinions. Ultimately if the cowboys thought the prices were too high for players then they made the right decision regardless of what happens with our competitors

Well in Bears defense they already re-signed Sweat didn't they? I thought I read that.

And that's another thing. Our weaknesses wasn't really available. I still would've liked Henry but I honestly don't think he was available.

Yeah seemed like not many wanted Roquan even Bears didn't want to give him big money I don't remember what he went for though. He's having a solid year though.

Well I Don't think the issue was the prices I think the issue was they didn't have a price to give. If i'm not mistaken they don't have a 4th or 5th round pick.

There were other players available we had rumored interest in and deals always come down to price

I think a 2nd and 5th, and of course he needed a new contract.

So it was a lot. Basically Schoon and either Gilly or Cooks, plus cap $.
Yeah i'm more so concerned with the money especially at that time I didn't want to spend money on a linebacker.

I mean who are you talking about? I can't imagine they'd try to trade for anyone outside of hte 4th or 5th round range.....

The corner from Denver and I’m sure other players but regardless your point on a whole is way too early to make so yes, to answer your question it’s way too early to make a decision on the deadline with 4 football games left to play plus a post season

Who Surtain? Surtain was never available. Unless you're talking about the Bears corner Jaylon Johnson it seemed like that was heating up.

But I mean my point isn't too early. There was no trade that was going ot make us better for this season. It just doesn't happen. I used those other teams just to back my claim up. Teams do this and it just never works out. I just don't think its possible to just throw a guy in there and just fix a hole without a training camp. People can bring up the one or two times its happened in the past 30 years but its just rare.

i was interested in henry, buddah baker, and derrick brown. it's honestly anybody's guess if they were actually available, but would have loved to make a move on any of the three. also, while i can appreciate that there hasn't seemed to be any needle mover moves from the deadline (i'd argue that chase young to the niners is severely underrated) i will always want dallas to be aggressive. i'd much rather be aggressive and miss than to sit idly by. especially as the premier teams in the league seem to be in a constant arms race.

So they shouldn't have tried to get some oline depth or a good linebacker? Ok.

most are eagles fans anyways they was gonna cry about any move ones we made and didnt make...

I wanted Shaq Leonard (not a trade, as this was after the deadline) and saw the fuss people made as if he was going to be an all pro (and if he was why would indy release him?)

Chase Young? this site gets mad at Demarcus Lawrence and then ask for a guy who pretty much does what Lawrence does...Young is an all arounder and great at chasing down screens and good at playing the run while having rush abilities

You study facts where they have meaning for you. Valid and hard to view in the off season due to limited comparison views available from advanced observations when memories and not principals already observed are missing for most fans.

The team will never at this point even give that window. Only in the off season. Here and now, it has no relevant use. They are what they are as to personnel and where they are going.

To this fan and here and now...they have made very good decisions and lead to be able to be fully able to play it out. They have lead and developed with the players that they chose and team valued directions. They are for real and projecting as well...not just the biggest, fastest, or meanest players in a scrapbook.
