True. I agree yet some are happy to still earn a ridiculous amount of money without wanting even more.

I understand wanting to see more of dak before committing long term.
But we put ourselves in a position without much leverage.
The short deal was a result.

Patriots were the ultimate example. Not just Brady but so many good players took a little less in order to construct and maintain a stronger roster to regularly challenge for Superbowls. That's not just a dig at Prescott as plenty of others do it - look at the likes of Rodgers who didn't take a concession (although he's worth the big bucks) and the roster wasn't built to last the play offs. People bang on about him being a choker but in reality the roster wasn't good enough - it lacked depth in the play offs when injuries kicked in.

Brady threw a pick 6 vs the Falcons and went down 100 points in the Superbowl yet whilst he gets the plaudits (rightly so) his D kept giving him the ball back admittedly with a little help from some brainless play calling by Shanahan. Yet you could say Brady reaped what he sowed because he had those guys on D like Hightower with the huge play strip sacking Ryan because he took less money.

The problem with Daks contract isn't the AAV, it's the length. The Cowboys never really get a chance to get ahead of the cap number because Daks deal is up again in two years.

Hurtz probably sees a similar situation where he can cash in, but the Eagles dont want to commit for a monster length deal like Mahomes. With Mahomes deal though the Chiefs can manipulate the cap number to do quite a bit as they have a decade of creative accounting to work with.

I agree. The bad news is what you stated. The good news about the length of the deal is if he flames out then we're not stuck with him. In 2 or 3 years we will have no doubt what Dak can and can't do in this league and then adjust accordingly. If we signed him to a Mahomes type deal and he flamed out we'd have some problems.

I actually like Hurts as a person. Seems to be a good kid. Reminds me of Dak a little bit. His problem is no matter what he does he will always be limited as a thrower because he runs the ball better then he throws. Hurts is Lamar Jackson without the 4.2 speed. In the end being such a good running quarterback limits the passing game.

He also doesn't have Lamar's arm either. I too like the guy. Wish he wasn't a Eagle. Seems too good for them but yeah I've seen some bad things from him as a passer....to the point I don't think he can develop better passing ability. Maybe with repetition things will change but man it was rough at times watching him.

That reporter is kind of an Eagles homer. So he thinks everything will be positive. He predicted the Eagles would win 11-12 games last year. So it's not surprising that he thinks Hurts will be so awesome that he'll get a big contract extension.

What I find comical is that he thinks it will be a good thing for the Eagles. It's a good thing for Jalen Hurts, not the Eagles. What's delusional is thinking he'll get that contract.

Eagles fans are saying the same thing. They are joyous Dallas is tied to Prescott. BC mediocre is all he will ever be.

Good point about the Packers. The 2019 season was the perfect example. Rodgers and Garoppolo are miles apart, yet the Packers got rolled by the 49ers. That 49ers roster was better by far.
