Yup 24 year old fan, earliest memories are watching an old Emmitt break the record... But other than that it's just been consistent misery and a lot of second guessing of why I love such a pathetically dysfunctional franchise.

how about Ray Lewis calling out our plays!

Ray had a personal vendetta against the Cowboys in 2008 for the Kareem Lattimore debacle. He was in training camp with us as a RB, and is Ray's brother. He was later cut. Ray took it personally.

Yes, but even that rock bottom looked promising the very next season. It was a very brief period of hopelessness. This one has lasted for a total of ten years at least if you look at the Parcells era as a bright period.

It looked pretty darn hopeless for the Cowboys after the 89 season that was without question the lowest point for me as a fan. The Cowboys went from 3-13 Landry's final year to 1-15 Jimmy's first year. I was real excited heading into the 89 season expecting at least some improvement with all the changes but things went from real bad to hopeless. A lot of the moves Jimmy and Jerry were making were being questioned including forfieting the Cowboys #1 the following year to draft Steve Walsh in the supplemental draft after already drafting Aikman with the #1 overall pick and trading Walker during the season. The #1 the Cowboys forfieted for Walsh turned into the #1 overall pick in 1990. Jimmy and Jerry looked like a couple of idiots after that first season even with all the draft picks they came away with in the Walker trade.

There were no guarantees those picks would turn into quality players the draft is a crapshoot. Jimmy and Jerry had no NFL experience and the moves they were making were being heavily scrutinized. No college head coach at the time had made a successful transition to the NFL so the 89 season was very troubling. Aikman was taking a beating and missed several games in 89 and some were questioning him as a QB. He was 0-11 as the starter and Michael Irvin Landry's last first round pick was lost with an ACL and his future didn't look very bright. If anyone would have told me after the 89 season the Cowboys would end up hoisting the Lombardi trophy 3 years later with a lopsided 52-17 win in the SB I would have thought they were nuts. I learned after that season that anything is possible.

If Jerry hadn't experienced the great success he did during the early 90's the Cowboys wouldn't be in the 18 year rut they are now. Jerry won 3 championships doing it someone else's way and is determined to win a championship doing it his way even if it means missing the playoffs every year at 8-8. He's already achieved everything he ever wanted as an owner. His teams won multiple championships dominating the 90's and he has a state of the art stadium. He wants desperately to develop Jason Garrett on the job into a quality NFL HC and by winning it all with him Jerry will get all the credit. Jerry knows he would come out smelling like a bokay of roses winning it all with a yes man who has no business being an NFL HC. As long as the Cowboys are competitive having a chance to make the playoffs entering week 17 every season and fans are still filling his stadium he'll continue trying to win his way.

The Cowboys teams of the 90's I truly believe were the best of the best. So much talent and so much depth. I would put up those teams vs any SB Champions of the past and be confident of a win. Also, I would put Jimmy J up against any SB winning coaches of the past and be confident of having the best coach. Those Cowboys teams were the Cockiest *****s of all time and so was their coach and I loved every damn minute of it. That team talked plenty of crap but they sure as hell backed it up. Boy did I love those teams.

Great post! I would say this is part of the reason I was drawn to the team as well. This is also why a lot of us posters don't care for the RKG mentality too much tbh.

I remember the glory years… but I remember 7-8, 3-13, 1-15….
Than drastic change came… the JJ's.
maybe you will experience similar change..
hang in.

I was able to walk around and say "Cowboys are winning the Super Bowl this year"... It worked for 3 of 4 years.

Pissed people off!!
I loved being that arrogant and in your face.

I am still arrogant and in their faces.... Just don't have anything to back it up now,

I'm 26 and do not remember watching any superbowls. I don't like this team because of the glory days... isn't that technically the definition of bandwagon fans? I like this team because my brother was a 49ers fan and hated the Cowboys. I was 10. It's a little too late to change it now. We could never win a superbowl until my death and it would be irrelevant. I'm a Cowboys, Braves, Bulls, UNC and VT fan. Brother was a Duke & UVA fan as well.. hah

Nice. I'm 26 year old as well. My teams are Cowboys, Braves, and Bulls. Just love the star, Maddox, chipper Jones, Jordan, Kukoc.

In the early days of the internet, my wife couldn't justify the price. Not kidding. I wanted it badly so I told her I would cancel all my mag subscriptions because I could read them on the world wide web for free. It worked.

Ah toltd Ms. Busty that the Internet would be educational and she let me half it one day. And I toldt her "even when in jail I would half access to the WORLDWIDE WEB (Echo chamber effect)!
I just did not know HOW education it would be . . . .

You're like me, and probably every other 90s kid who was old enough to watch Jordan and the Bulls.

Jordan, Pippen, Rodman, Longley, Kerr, Kukoc, Harper, Caffey, etc. Those guys were awesome.

I'm 25 and depressed. Discuss.

Fire used to burn inside the Dallas Cowboys, now it's a cold football feeling, that special warmth isn't here anymore.

For those who don't remember it was a time when hard work and sacrifice were paramount, a time when what Dallas Players did for the game was the most important thing in their lives by miles. A time when there were no excuses...domination was the name of the game.

Before Troy and Romo there was Roger. A winner if there ever was one...

Somebody forgot Danny, the original Tony. I hope history doesn't paint Romo the same way as White, but with his latest back problems I'm thinking he goes down the same path. I for one think that he will never be the same again, I've been in the military for 18 years and was a competitive triathlete and time trial cyclist and then had 5 back surgeries, I have yet to even run in the past 5 years.

No, of course I did not forget Danny, but as great as he was (and he was great), I don't have him up there with Roger and Troy... Imo Danny had a consistently stronger supporting cast (on both O and D) than Romo and thus I rank Tony a little higher. But, that's just my opinion and I realize that others may feel differently given the post season success that the Cowboys had during the Danny White years...
