I've told the story before of the last conversation I had with my Grandma before she passed away. I promised her we were going to draft Troy Aikman and win 2 more Super Bowls. The night we won Super Bowl XXVIII and I went out on my balcony to share that moment with her.

That's cool, Hos.

Good topic...

For me, the live in-person moment would be being at the game Emmitt broke the rushing record against Seattle, which is also the game Woodson broke the all-time Cowboys tackle mark.

As for a living room moment, I'd have to say the first 90s superbowl (XXVII). Seeing them win the superbowl was awesome, cause I was too young to see their 70s super bowls.

mine would be sitting in the Cotton Bowl, in the end zone, eating chilli dogs with my Uncle and watching the Cowboys beat the Packers for the very first time, had those seats from the time they began in 1960 and cried a lot of tears in em, before the bomb to Hayes made life worth living lol

Winning that first Superbowl after so many heartbreaking losses in championship games, including the loss to the Colts where the refs simply gave the Colts the game. After all the weeping and gnashing of teeth following expected wins that became losses, I had sort of let up on my emotions so as not to be too disappointed if they lost, but when they won, I felt immensely elated anyway. What a sense of relief to finally cast off the "can't win the big one" label. I basked in the glory of it for weeks.

This would be mine as well. I don't think you can really equate the feeling prevelent at the time. So many years of close but no cigar. Being called next years champs. Jokes and ridicule were the norm in those days. There was no history to look back and lean on. We couldn't point to past championships and claim success. All you could do was shut up and take it. It pretty much sucked. That first championship was like a 10 thousand pound Gorilla lifted off your testies. Not a moment too soon either. I'm not sure the franchise could have survived another bitter defeat.

Mine was after we won the 1992 NFC Championship game against the Niners and Jimmy gives the slight pause and says "HOW BOUT DEM COWBOYS?!?!"

Not to sound cocky and I almost never count my chickens before they hatch, but at that moment I knew Dallas was going to steamroll the Bills.

Plus, that game saw Moose Johnston completely OWN one of my most hated athletes in Bill Romanowski ALL GAME LONG.

TD's 99 yard run with 10 men on the field. That missing player was Ron Springs (20). I am old. :(

Losing by 13 points late in the 4th quarter, Captain Comeback threw two touchdown passes in the last two minutes of the game to beat Washington 35-34.

What a game. :toast:

Amen! Man, you stole my thunder....haha. Seriously, one of the greatest games in NFL history. That last TD never would have happened if not for the defensive play of Larry Cole's life. The Commanders had the ball, third & I think about 4, and they run a counter trey sweep to the right with Riggins. He gets that 1st down, and they run out the clock. Cole comes breaking through the line & tackles Riggins from behind for a loss--awesome play.

That play allowed Roger the Dodger to take the team down the field & throw a perfect pass to the right corner of the end zone, where Tony Hill was wide open.
I had basically given up....I know, what a fan, when they went behind by 13 points. The 'Skins defense had stifled our offense all game long. I went from total dismay to completely ecstatic in minutes!

10. Rocket Ismail buring the Commanders on Opening Day 1999.

9. Emmitt becoming the All-Time leading rusher in NFL history.

8. Staubach's last miracle - beating Washington 35-34 in 1979.

7. The Hail Mary

6. Ken Norton and his tackle on Kenneth Davis in Super Bowl XXVII.

5. Clint Longley and the 1994 Thanksgiving game.

4. Alvin Harper and his clutch catch and carry in the 1992 NFC Championship game. That stuffed right into all of the mouths of all 49er fans all the garbage Cowboy fans had to take from the 1981 Championship game.

3. Just knowing that Dallas has 19 Division titles; 54 Post Season games, winning 32; 16 appearances in the NFC Championship game, winning 8, and 8 trips to the Super Bowl, winning 5.

2. Lilly and Lary Cole running down Greise in Super Bowl VI - This validated Tom Landry and all of the great things he had done with this franchaise.

1. WE WILL WIN THE BALLGAME!!! - The reason I think this is my favorite is that:
- Dallas had BY FAR the best team
- They went up against the #1 contender (whom people believed they could have won)
- Jimmy calls his shot
- The players cashed his check
- Emmitt still won the rushing title despite only playing in virtually 12 games (the two holdout games plus he only had one or two carries in the losses to Atlanta and Miami)
- So this validates that Dallas was head and shoulders above all the other teams inthe NFL.

1992 NFC Championship Game - Cowboys vs. 49er's in San Francisco. 4th quarter, San Francisco just scored a touchdown and have huge momentum. Troy Aikman (I think on the first play of the series) throws a deep slant to Alvin Harper. The play goes for about 80 yards to essentially put the game away. I can still see Alvin running and running and running...and me and my family are jumping up and down with every step.

Close call. The first SB win was great, and I celebrated greatly, but I think that SB 27 was the one moment that meant the most. Primarily, because it came so close after the miserable years (1-15 in '89). I was a rock-solid fan through thick and thin, and caught a lot of grief during those bad years from my Army buddies. The blow-out over the favored Bills had to be the best Cowboy memory ever. "He who laughs last, laughs best."

It has to be the 93 NFC championship game, the Cowboys crushed the 49ers 38-21. I had a smile all game long! It was good to see Joe Montana get knocked out in AFC game earlier too!:laugh1:

That's high up there for me as well.

My best was the 1975 playoffs and the "Hail Mary" against Minnesota. That was breathtaking.

My favorite moment was when Emmitt passed Payton and went to the sideline and had a moment with Moose. He went over and Emmitt cried like a baby to Moose and remember saying to myself if that ain't dedication and love for the game I don't know what is.

2nd favorite moment(GAME) was when Michael Irvin caught 11 balls against Darrell Green in RFK in 91. Harper had a 45 yd catch right before half. Emmitt had a big game yardage wise. Dallas won but Skins went on to win the SB that year but you could see Dallas was not too far behind and it was the beginning of something special.

Some of the greatest moments have already been covered in this thread.... so rather than repeat the same great ones i will add 2 games that were awesome, only because they were both victories over the eagles and i have been forced to watch many games as the only cowboys fan in a room filled with eagles fans.

One game came when the Boys were not having such a good year, i think aikman might have been the QB. Anyway, the Boys defense pulled a big upset win over philly and i think they had some rediculous number of sacks that game, at any rate, philly had the number one ranked defense that year and all i heard sunday morning was how bad the boys would get spanked. After the game one of the cowboys defenders was saying "who played like the number 1 defense today" over and over again and i was totally rubbing it in the eagles fans face because they were doing so much trash talking.

The other one would be Emmitts first 100 yard rushing game against the eagles which to me marked the changing of the guard before the first SB with aikman, emmitt and irvin. After that game i called this one friend of mine who had been totally on my case for the previous years whenthe eagles beat the cowboys and his reply was classic "well, you can laugh all you want, it doesnt hurt me because im not an eagles fan anymore, in fact i just think football's a stupid waste of time anymore, so i guess you really cant rub it in, too bad for you". that just made me laugh harder.

My first game at Texas Stadium vs Cardinals in 2003. Emmitt returns.

Last years game vs Eagles at Texas Stadium. The banter with the Eagles fans that day was sweet. :)

Ken Norton stopping Kenneth Davis. #1 thought I was quite mad when I was punching the air a shouting.

1: Alvin Harper's 70 yard catch and run late in the 4th quarter of the 1993 NFC Championship game in mudhole known as Candlestick Park against San Francisco. That sealed a game that NO ONE outside of Dallas thought we would win and sent us to SB 27. I was only 7 and still remember that moment like it was 5 minutes ago.

2: The entire second half of SB 28. That was amazing, Buffalo thought they had the game in hand and we came out and basically said "You can't stop us, we're the best, and we know it". The look on Marv Levy's face after Emmitt scored that amazing balancing act of a TD was the most priceless thing in the history of sports.

3: This one will seem weird, but Larry Allen running down a New orleans CB after an INT his rookie season. Most amazing play I've ever seen a player make in the NFL, simply ebcause of the amazing effort and athleticism he showed for a big man.

This one, for me, was tempered by the fact that we eventually lost that game. Monday nighter as I recall. Vikes went into the 2 minute drill with about 8 minutes to go. Thou they new it not, they created the no huddle offense at our expense.

Who knew?
