He's said that a few times before.

It's his horse racing/betting philosophy.

When A reporter asked about why his players would not break curfew.....

"It would be pretty expensive and if they think its worth it I hope they take me with them"

I did not get it exactly right , but somthing like that...
I hadn't heard that one, but I love it.

I see a lot of good ones that I remember over the years.

One of my favorites lines was when Drew Henson joined the Cowboys and gave that big five minute speech about how he was always meant to be a football player, was destined to be a QB, missed football and wanted to return, and all the other stuff that made for great sound bytes. Then the media asked Bill what he thought about that and it took him about 3 seconds to summarize his version of it.

Something like: "Yeah, uh-huh, and if he was batting .300, I think he'd still be playing baseball."

:laugh2:

Gotta love Bill's brutal honesty.

I can't find the exact quote, but back when he was coaching the Jets a reporter asked Parcells something and his response was like, "Awwww...you want some milk and cookies?" If someone can find this exact phrase, please post it. It's another classic Parcells line.

"Reports that say that something hasn't happened are always interesting to me, because as we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns -- the ones we don't know we don't know." Donald Rumsfeld

Tell me that does not sound like a quote BP would fun with. Slightly Off Topic there, but man that is a great quote.

"You are what you are."

In reference, to any teams final won/loss record.

See my earlier post in this thread, I cite the Parcells quote that is similar and mention the fact that Rumsfeld once said almost the same thing.:)

Didn't he say that Ware was from so far out in the country that he had to go toward town to hunt?

Ive always loved "you are what you are" as well. I am always telling people "it is what it is"

When reffering to Andre Gurode one time, he talking about all his mental mistakes and he said "after a while, I have to believe that you are what you are, I have to believe that"

That has stuck with me ever since, I use that Parcellsism in daily life

The thing about "you are what you are" is that he has then gone on to contradict himself a number of times.

After the 2003 season, he seemed to hedge at predicting similar success for the 2004 team even though he felt he had a better team at the start of the year.

Now last year he says we are a 9-7 team but that was really, really close to being much better.

Personally, I do believe that there are a lot of factors that go in to determining a team's record and that a team's record is not entirely indicative of the strength of the team.

many of these saying he is being credited with has been said by others...some he has jerseyized...some he got a little twisted up... but beyond a doubt he is a colorful character

How about - "Don't tell me about the pain, just show me the baby!"...

or

"He doesn't know whether the ball is blown up or stuffed with feathers"...

or

obviously one of Bill's favorites - "Lookit...what are we talkin about hypotheticals here? Are we talkin hypotheticals...ok?

When I hear him say "you are what you are" its almost always in reference to a player not the overall team record. After three seasons if a player is still always making mental mistakes, then you have to believe he is just player who makes mental mistakes.

When he was with the Giants, he was talking about a LB prospect who had a ton of tackles in college: "You judge a trapper by the number of pelts he has, and this guy's got a lotta pelts."

I chuckle at Parcells' condescending tone and his arrogant mannerisms. He's one of a kind.

The respect that I give them is commeserate with their abrasivenes in interfering with my coaching operation.

Get them cameras out of here.

I can’t get this right

What a ham and egg operation

You gotta be able to laugh at yourself a little bit now if you cant do that in this league, in this game, you got a problem because.. You know I will not allow my players to be too sensitive.. so if the coach is too sensitive then.. you know..

Don’t call me sir, I aint in the army

Shut up Simms.. now don’t be a damn no class player.

I’ll tell ya we cant play.. we cant play.. we’re too stupid.

Dumb players do dumb things.

Tell him to throw up on his own time.

Doctor: He’ll be able to play but he’s not in top form.
Bill: well he don’t have to play doc, all hes gotta do is kick.

You have to figure out where your teams mentality appears to be.. when you start.. and then put the hammer if it’s not where you want it.. put the hammer down quickly and try to get the attention back on the detail very quickly.

Sprint to it, set your feet, catch the ball.. that’s the lesson for the rest of your career.

Oh I'll tell ya, I'm gettin to old for this.

If you haven't noticed, Our back can run the ball pretty well (after JJ tore up Seattle)
