I feel better about the prospect of Romo coming in should Bledsoe get injured but as far as starting QB for this team this year it is Drew Bledsoe

after one game, I see ya'll have a potential future replacement for Bledsoe

so yeah, once Bledsoe is gone, give the keys to Romo

Correction: After one game, we still don't know what Romo is.

This is what I was talking about. Again, he did a lot that was very positive, but IMO if this had been regular season against the starters on defense...these plays would have been a problem. There was another pass (can't remember if 2nd or 3rd Q) when we were starting our goaline. He threw and out that would have surely been intercepted for a TD if that had been a 1st string defender out there. The ball lacked the zip that he's going to need in this league.

I'm not trying to hate on Romo, because he looked very good out there - especially compared to a year ago. I'm just trying to temper the "Romo is our future" bandwagon until I see more.

***For the record, I don't think Henson would have played as well as Romo did***

for the record i think henson would have.

overall on romo - not bad. i didn't see him "on fire" but i did see him make some good plays and show some promise that can only be developed in time. time you get on the NFL field where i have been pushing for ANYONE ELSE but a bp castoff to play when it just didn't matter. 3 games 2 years ago, a game last year...wasted.

people say that jennifer engle is just stirring the top when she posted that question to bill about what other game could romo have started in - um...game 16?

why was she so wrong? she said either some trust fell in drew or romo had one HELL of an offseason. after all, it's really just one game to the next so *both* are reasonable assumptions. however, to say them aloud got her death threads of people (i hope) kidding around about it all.

but i never saw her refuted with logical answers, just yelled and cussed at as if that were an actual intelligent reply to her story. so it didn't become the battle cry for cheerleaders, was she right?

in 1 full game he got 1 td and a couple of fg's. is that enough? for the romo supporters / henson haters DO NOT even tell me that the talent around romo was less than desirable. henson faced it for not 3 quarters of a game, but an entire year of NFLE and was never given that excuse by his detractors.

but the talent on the other side of the ball dropped also. it didn't even start out full strength either yet - 1 td. 2 fg's.

and people want him to replace bledsoe. hey, i've been asking for time on the field for either qb for going on 3 years now and i'm happy as hell we're getting it NOW so maybe next year they can be ready.

but it's funny how the same crowd who said you won't see anything worthwhile in 1 meaningless game at the end of the season now find salvation at the beginning of a "pre" season in similiar circumstances.

but back to romo - he did well overall. i'm glad he was given the whole game and i'd like to see henson get some time on the field also next week. the last 2 weeks needs to be bledsoe and company getting ready and split the time with the 3 qb's we have left after the 1st 1/2 of each game. but romo needs this time so badly. he needed it last year as well but hey - wasn't ready.

hmmm...musta had a hell of an off-season, right?

sooner or later we're going to run out of bp security blankets and we're going to need to have a qb ready to go. give romo more time and reps and let's see what he can do. let's do the same on a lesser scale for henson but let's keep him active and busy also.

but in the end i think we're so hungry for an answer to this question we'll eat just about anything and call it fantastic. but i want to see more than a td and 2 fg's in a full game before i think we're finally solved the qb problem again.

I was impressed with Romo but I think we need to tap the brakes on him though. It was one preseaon game. If he continutes to impress, then we can start having hope.

I'm not really buying into the "Bledsoe slumped in the second half of the season." Sure, his production dipped quite a bit, but that was due to Flozell's injury more than anything and he still had big games against KC and Carolina in December.

Essentially this game only meant to me that Romo passed Parcells' first test and we probably won't hear from Skins fans on how great their team is for a week. Or maybe not.

for that to be his first nfl game i think he play pretty good....he looked comfortable...bill said last year that he thought the guy was good...its way too early to have QB controversy game 3 should be the game where he can decide if he's gonna be number 2 or 3

you're correct, but what's the fun of preseason if I can't jump to conclusions?

Romo did as well in the game as he could have possibly done, absent the fumbles. You never can see, as a fan on TV, what he might have missed open but as far as I could tell he was excellent, could not have asked for more. Will he be a starting QB in the league, only time will tell, but he did nothing to make you think that he can't be.

One thing is for sure...

if Romo loses a fumble or two mixed with an INT or two in his next outing... the Pro-Romo threads will all read opposite of what they are now...

I haven't seen enough of Romo to decide anything, but if the offense starts to stall because of Bledsoe, then it's time to bring in some fresh blood that teams have not watched film on.

You need a "keep him on the roster but don't let him start because he wasn't a high draft pick" poll option for me to vote :D

He'll always be Sean Payton's boy to me.

He's only in Dallas, because of Payton.

He'll wind up in New Orleans IMO.

Everyone watching Monday Night Football? Chris Mortensen just said he believes if Bledsoe struggles again this year, they will give Romo a chance. Mort doesn't work for the Cowboys, but I've always found him one of the better ESPN TV guys when it comes to the pigskin.

You have to love the crowd that whined til the cows came home that insisted you'd learn a world of information had Parcell's played Romo in that one meaningless game 16 last year, then turn around and find that not a whole lot was gained from this one meaningless game in preseason.

I'm still in the camp, regardless of the words the BP haters like to put in my mouth, that neither meaningless game would gauge either way, good OR bad.

All that info is on the field for those that matter to see, and evaluate.

If Romo has another nice outing, I should expect those same whiners to please explain to me how in the world he did it without being under their watchful eye, and explain how, after 3 years of crying no QB was being developed, how he could do so well if he hadn't been being groomed.

The silence will be deafening.

He also swore up and down that Parcells was retiring last offseason. He 'broke' that story.
