Your Surprise "Makes The Cut" Guy

If he doesn't, there was little sense in wasting a draft pick on him. A project is just that, a project.

They are all projects, some more than others obviously. But once you get to the 7th round teams are throwing darts at longshots who either are great athletes but poor production or not so great athletes with good production but are doubtful to make the jump in competition.

The one guy that it was odd he dropped to the 7th was WR Kenny Lawler, who reportedly did really well in his camp. Might be a guy who had "baggage" and was off the board.

Yeah, but we drafted Gathers in the 6th. And if we didn't expect him to be a project, shame on us.

That someone else will find a place for on their 53.

Maybe. I don't really think so. The guy has zero football experience. I doubt he'll be able to contribute at all. I'm not sure how many teams can waste a valuable roster spot on a player like that. I guess we'll see.

I'm going with Jackson too.

Bye bye Dunbar. Sorry you could never stay healthy.

Yes most people say they don't understand why we drafted another RB in the 6th round. Mainly to replace Dunbar. McFadden and Morris are on 1 year contracts, I wouldn't mind another back next year. That would give us 3 young backs for the future and we can stay with the run game

Jackson will surprise people in preseason

No doubt we'll have to just wait and see. But if my plan was only to expose him to waivers, I wouldn't have drafted him but tried to pick him up as an undrafted free agent. Those are the guys you put on the practice squad in my opinion.

It sure speaks to me that they drafted him. And I'd like to see them stop relying on proven unreliable players like Dunbar and Terrell McClain.

Again, the most important ability is availability. Can't help the club in the tub.

Gotcha, I just thinking who's the odd man out at TE if we keep him? Unless you're thinking we go 5 TEs?

Witten, Escobar, Hanna, Swaim, Gathers

The comp picks were after the regular 6th round picks so they are called 6th round picks, but they could also be considered top of the 7th round. See how that works? Had they drafted another player that player might have been out of the 7th round guys or even the udfa's.

Rico was pick 217

6 * 32 = 192
7 * 32 = 224

I'd say Escobar at this point.

Serious injury.

Don't know when he'll return at this point or in what condition.

Last year of his contract.

A bust thus far.

I see little point in keeping him around at this point. Admit the obvious and move on.

So you prefer to tell yourself he was a 7th rounder when everything states otherwise?

Cool story. You do that.

I can't help if you are dense. That is on you. But the pool of players they were looking at would have been 7th rounders or udfa's at that point of those comp picks.

I agree. Besides Dunbar hasn't really showed me much. If they are a great talent. ...Lee, Claiborne, Smith etc....I don't mind giving them some time to stay on the field but just like you said if they can't stay on the field they can't help us.

Too many people like players or wants to keep players that are injury prone. Time to move on from Dunbar and McClain, I'm willing to give them this training camp to prove they can get on the field. ...same thing with Claiborne. They stay healthy, great, they get hurt move on.

I'm ready to see Jackson at RB, Collins at DT and Brown at CB to replace those guys. They are hungry and willing to earn that spot

If I'm "dense" , so is the rest of the entire world. Because all of us see that Gathers was drafted in the 6th round. Call it whatever the **** stupid **** you want. Everyone else will call him what he is. A 6th round draft pick of the Dallas Cowboys.

And maybe you can't see that big number '6' right next to his name and where it says Dallas Cowboys?

I'll help you out since you obviously need it. It's the first number on the left!

:lmao:

I won't take it away from him, Dunbar was making some nice contributions last year. But then, the same thing happened that's always happened with him. As soon as this team used him, he got injured. It's been the same thing through each and every year of his career. He's made it through exactly one. When the team never used him.

So if it's a choice of using him and watching him get injured yet again, or not using him so he can remain healthy, I'm choosing option C, cut bait and look for a more physically reliable player capable of handling the physical demands of pro football. Dunbar isn't that guy.

Too many people like players or wants to keep players that are injury prone. Time to move on from Dunbar and McClain, I'm willing to give them this training camp to prove they can get on the field. ...same thing with Claiborne. They stay healthy, great, they get hurt move on.

I'm ready to move on. I've seen enough repeated injury, or guys like McClain getting hurt in Week Two and being lost for the season.

I'm ready to see Jackson at RB, Collins at DT and Brown at CB to replace those guys. They are hungry and willing to earn that spot

And they haven't already shown that they'll be physically unreliable either. I'm ready to move on too.
