I currently have Xfinity with cable and internet, and I'm looking to drop it. Does YTTV give you live local stations? I do watch a lot of local programming, so trying to find an alternative to Xfinity that is a tad cheaper.
It depends on where you live. Check this site for a good review of what is available. I think there is a link to help determine if you get local affiliates: https://clark.com/technology/tvsatellite-cable/4-things-to-know-before-you-sign-up-for-youtube-tv/

Did anyone actually think DirecTV gave it up because they wanted to? Or maybe because they were losing their butt on it and could no longer justify the losses?

If you do the math on the contracts with Amazon, ABC/ESPN, CBS and NBC and figure what they can generate in revenue for all the games, they all lose money. The NFL is the only one that makes money and they depend on the ancillary benefit of programming promotion for their partners to keep them.

Which makes it even crazier the money they're paying to Aikman and Romo just to talk incessantly during the games.

If they offer the RZC as a standalone, I will probably do that. Otherwise, I will just watch the Cowboys games because I cannot stand the stop downs for commercials and delays in the action caused by the officials. Watching NFL games isn't enjoyable. Watching the RZC is.

I don't get the surprise, and I'm no Google lover but i don't get the YouTube hate either. We all knew the NFL was mandating a certain price so their long-time and high-paying partners FOX and CBS didn't lose viewers. From the number of you posting your satisfaction with watching 5'ish games from a bar to avoid paying the price for ST it looks like the strategy is working.

Far as the single team option, YouTube may not be done announcing stuff, but I think anyone living in reality would at least have settled with the probability that this wasn't going to happen. A lot of you crowed when Apple dropped out of the bidding for this very reason.

The NFL is king of content, hands down, and they aren't gonna change a businest model that's obviously working. They got Google locked into a contract that will pay the League $14B over the next seven years while moving better games to Thursdays and obviously maintaining the right to flex games to Sunday nights and now Mondays.

To me, $15 for an entire day of entertainment seems like a pretty darn good deal. I mean, a movie ticket at Regal Cinemas will set you back $14...for one person. I get that everyone has different priorities and different amounts of disposable income, but for the guarantee that I'll be able to watch all 17 regular season Cowboys games without missing a minute when games run over, ST is worth the price to me.
Yeah I will probably scoop out the cash to them. At one point I was thinking about a VPN a streaming service for local channels in Dallas, then the wife reminded me that she's an avid Packers fan and how would she watch her games?
So the math works out better when it's two teams games I need to stream here in CT. Even if half of our games are covered by the local channels, the other half that aren't will equal 17 games.

Yes, based on your address. So, it might or not be the stations you consider "local". For instance I live in an area that is covered by two markets. I am assigned one based on my address even though people a short distance away are assigned the other because they have a different zip code. I would generally prefer the other but i can get those OTA when needed.

If memory serves you can go onto their site and put in your address and see what locals you would receive.

He's right ........NFL set a min they had to charge ( google why Apple TV dropped out ). But that's still no excuse for offering more deeper discounts to start and flexible games choices

$70 per month which includes local channels for most areas.
So if you live in texas you can get all cowboy games just with the basic option.
Also any games that those channels are airing in your area. It includes espn 1 also and nfl network.

If you live out of cowboy areas, you would get whatever is on your local channels +espn & NN
Has dvr so just select games you want to record then watch live or even start late, so you can skip thru commercials.
for games not aired in your area, there are sites that stream all games, just have to jump thru some hoops to watch those for free.

I recorded all nfl games, then watched whatever ones I wanted to at my convenience.
I would start watching cowboys game 1 hour after it came on so I could skip commercials and halftime.

That was more games than I could watch lol, so no need for sun ticket.
and redzone imo is the dumbest channel ever, I have no interest in that.
If you have VPN you can change it to get out of marker content.

I guess you could always go to the bar for a few beers and apps for $50 each outing for the 4 times a year the Cowboys aren't televised. That's a $50 savings ;)
I don't go to bars...too expensive. I am a complete cheapskate!

When the cowboys aren't on, I do CZ game day thread.

Oh wait...nope. NOT A CHANCE for that living he!!

I don't understand the hype in red zone either, who the hell wants to see that, it's a tease lol

yeah. the ad sales have always been the driver. charging less = more eyes.
Apparently the billion dollar company disagrees with internet user proof…have you applied for a job to explain this game changing concept ?

Not necessarily. What a lot of you forget is that even if this drives people to illegal streams, those streams have the same ads. So the sponsors don't care. They get the extra eyes anyway. YouTube is simply testing the addiction to football and if they don't get the orders they expect, they'll adjust. But they know that entertainment consumers want what they want and besides the ceremonial foot stamping they'll usually play ball for fear of being left out. Jerry knows this better than anyone.
