It's obvious the players like Jason Garrett as head coach because Garrett takes it easy on them and covers up for them. There is no fear of the head coach. Garrett is their buddy who has their backs, so the players don't fear losing their jobs if they continuously screw up on the field, especially the highly paid players like the Oline.

Does anyone believe these players would feel all warm and fuzzy with Jimmy Johnson if he were their head coach? Hell no!!! Jimmy would be busting their tails during the week in practice, and benching anyone, regardless of payscale, if they committed dumb but costly penalties during games consistently!

Jimmy's players hated him during the week because Jimmy would bust their balls while punishing them if they hurt the team on the field. Garrett does the opposite. He babies them, hence the weekly game-costing penalties!:angry:

Results....you always hear the same type of talk when HC jobs getting hot. Results are only thing that matters. They believe in him? Then they better do something about it fast and a win against Buffalo isn’t going to absolve the situation. Win,and keep winning.

Jimmy could not win in this era with his approach.

Why not? Did human nature and tendencies change that much over the past 25 years? I don't think so.

Look at Billy B. in NE. He doesn't take the tyrannical approach that Jimmy did, but he gets results through a lack of tolerance for stupidity. A level of accountability has to exist or you end up with an atmosphere like you see under Garrett. It seems the team views Garrett as their buddy, not as their leader, and you just can't have that.

Pay checks changed. FA changed the game. How many players you can have on a team changed. It would take Jimmy having a different approach to make it in this era or having GM responsibilities and final say on all players like Bellichick does but I don't think Jimmy has the football mind of Bill.

It's a different time now. There are limits on how hard players can practice that didn't exist under Jimmy. Also, the salary cap dictates who plays now more than it did under Jimmy. Jimmy did have his favorites as well which created some rifts in the locker room. I suspect Jerry has a lot more say in who plays these days which limits Garrett's ability to simply bench someone who commits a dumb penalty.

Do you think Bellicheats players love him? I bet they don't. But they respect the heck out of him.

You can not compare how bill runs his team to any coach here besides parcels and jimmy. No one here has had that kind of authority over players or his staff other than Jimmy and parcels. Untill whomever is HC has that power it will be more of the same or worse.

That being said, who are the leaders among the players? Where is the Irvin type who is holding other players accountable where the coaches can't/don't? We need a guy that will hold scissors to your throat if you try to jump the haircut line.
Exactly! This is why, as much as I supported cutting #88, I feel this team badly needs Dez Bryant back. Dez was the fiery spark that kept this team fired up both on the field and on the sidelines.

We have been told countless time that Dakota is the team leader and commands the huddle unlike his predecessor. Isn't it he?
