Zack Martin still mulling over his football future: 'I want to try to get healthy'

.....really sad though. Another casualty of bad luck Dallas teams.

I mean we got to playoffs three times in row, could not cash in.

That the was HIS last Swan song.

NEW ORLEANS – Being in New Orleans for Super Bowl LIX is a bittersweet moment for Zack Martin. On one hand, he's the Cowboys nominee for the Walter Payton Man of the Year award, one of the most prestigious honors in the NFL.

On the other hand, he's not in town playing for a chance to win a Lombardi trophy.

"I mean, it'll be cool to experience it as a fan, but obviously wish we could have played in it at some point in my career." Martin said.

Martin should do everything possible not to praise the Jones or Prescott in his HOF speech.
 
after his "i'll let my agent take care of that" mentality, and then pushing for a raise shortly after signing, anything less than him returning at a considerable discount if healthy i can do without.

He won’t make more than the minimum. If he were to get injured his pay is guaranteed. Teams are not going to take that risk on an injury plagued aging veteran. Cowboys are not going to compete for a playoff next season. Time to move on.

If Zack thinks he can come back fully healthy, he should.
He's already in the running for the GOAT G. Tied with 3 other Gs for most seasons as 1st Team All Pro. One more and he's all alone at the top. Still only 34 this season. He could even sit out a season to get fully healthy and come back at 35.

He can’t go back to Dallas.

there is a ton of dead cap/void money left on his last contract.
 
Travis Frederick retired because he wasn't able to return to the level of play that he was at before his illness. Was still a very good player, however, just not top notch like before.

I can't judge the man, but if I had the chance to maybe get to HOF level, even if it wasn't like his first couple of years, I'd have stayed on.

That's me, like I said, can't judge Frederick, I loved his play on the field.

I hope Martin will come back and try to go out with another Pro Bowl nod or at least be able to have one more really good season before he retires.

But I stand corrected I thought he was under contract another year. I was wrong. So I change my stance. INstead of cutting him let him walk and move on. Make the decision for him.

Moving on from a "HOF bound veteran" is the right move. They've done it before. Ware, Witten, Romo, Emmitt...what am I missing to why they can't move on from Martin who's struggling to stay healthy?

His current contract voids after the start of the 2025-26 season, which is a month away. If he were to return, the dead cap/void would be postponed, but the extension would have to be in place pretty much right away. And seeing how his last time how long it took to get to that extension his agent better be calling the Jones duo now.

Did you know that sometimes in life you go based off what you think you know….and you don’t. I’m man enough to admit I made a mistake. Which I stated in the previous post. I changed my stance instead of cutting him let him walk…anything else I can clarify for you?

But did you know he’s still under contract right now? So you’re trying very hard to be a jerk over a mistake and I’m not sure why? But we can keep the game going if it’s something you like….
