I like Zeke as a backup. We'll have to pray rico holds up....which I doubt he does.
The problem here is they listen to the front office because they're going to refer to zeke as the number one running back they're going to call him the starter but in reality I'm with you it doesn't matter as long as they're mixing up the load among three to four running backs..

we have 6 running backs right now, I'm sure we could find 3 to run behind the revamped offensive line and be effective people here have a problem because they think he's going to carry the ball 20 * a game and I don't think that's reality until it happens I don't care besides the fact that they wanna rag on our running backs for the low carries average well I watch Pittsburgh seems to be pretty content with naji Harris and his 3.9 yards per carry career average this is the man's young man's average you know when zeke was averaging close to five for his career before injuries and mileage set in somehow Harris is the starter in Pittsburgh and he's basically looks like old washed up zeke but they run behind him because he can move the chains if zeke is just blocking go line short yardage keeps his carries around 10 or 11 a game and then mixes it up with Rico we have other guys to choose from in Royce and Vaughn and Peat... I mean there's more guys on this team even hunter I believe they're going to let these guys compete and see which mix of all of them will work for the season. All our opinions are just opinions but that's mine people are worried too much about this stuff and I just wanna play the wait and see attitude...

LOL. The circus rolls on.

Elliott, Dowdle and whatever slop they sign from future cuts sounds like a running back room ready to dominate.
Don't think we'll sign slop from future cuts. I think this is it: Elliott, Dowdle, Freeman, Vaughn. The only way that changes is if they see that it isn't working.

I don't see Elliott being the backup, but I do think we'll limit his carries to around 15 per game. That means 10 to 15 to split between Dowdle and Freeman, unless Vaughn shows more to seize a spot from one of them.
I doubt this. Mostly because they will call less running plays because they won't be moving the ball much unless they pass just like last year. I do think he'll get a good amount of playing time though and maybe his total touches top 10+.

Whatever the contract is, it is a dagger, even veteran minimum is terrible due to roster spot that is wasted. RB development delayed.

I'll remember this post after every 3rd down and goal line conversion.

I think you should seek help if you're that emotionally invested in how it's went on either side...

who cares the only proof this teams fanbase we'll have it's discussing the games week by week and at the end of the season we can discuss how this went...

the last time I heard this was a historically bad offseason they made it to the second round of the playoffs.... Ironic

I mean you all can overreact all you want but keep your emotions out of it, that's the problem this is something that no one knows how it's going to work out until the games are played, we can discuss it... in February.... Even seasons that look like they were all for not like in 2018 we started out three and five this fan base overreacts as usual they got their feelings all mixed up in it they traded for amari Cooper finished ten and six second round of the playoffs...

again it's never the way you think it's going to be... EXPECTATIONS do not =Reality.

They are not here to impress you in the off season, there is nobody winning anything, you can give grades all you want but those are just highlighted opinions the way the media and the fanbases want to rate the offseason, it's the problem, your expectations are ridiculous... paper champions are an offseason thing and it doesn't matter because all of it has to be settled on the field as much as everyone loves what Howie Roseman does to excite his fan base he still has lost to the Dallas Cowboys two of the last three years for the division and had a monumental meltdown at the end of last season... you can love when he did in the offseason you can love that this man loves the Wheeling &dealing, he's as bad as Jerry Jones, I think he does this because he likes to be in the spotlight and it's great that you think he's improving the team but in the end all of it has to be settled on the field and last two years of the three that we beat the Philadelphia Eagles... you do realize that Washington and New York spent more money on free agents they technically won the offseason for our division, and it got them nowhere.

Filling your team with grade A 1st 10 days of free agency and winning what you think in the draft is winning when you're picking in the bottom five of every round and you think that that is a blueprint for success you have not been watching football any given Sunday it's a week to week league and every time that this fan base thinks that we're going to collapse they've won 12 games three straight years they don't win the off seasons but at least we're getting into the playoffs so somehow the all seasons are being overrated...
I hear ya, but I don't want to hear all the crying in the fall about the running game. It's been several years since the Cowboys ruined my day...it's entrainment and a business for Jerry.

That's the thing Jerry has already hinted that he realizes he's taking a little bit of a risk like he did in 2018 with the wide receivers and he's more than willing and remember this they were actually kicking the tires for a couple of these running backs around the trade deadline and didn't pull the trigger I believe he's hinting that they're willing right now to do that before it falls apart a lot of these guys are fully replaceable with their money they're not making any money you can cut 3 running backs mid season and bring in one on the trade deadline.... I mean listen to him talk I think he realizes they really wanted a running back in the draft but they had other deficiencies they wanted to fill and given that they didn't have a fourth round pick in their fifth round pick really wasn't a fifth round pick it was more like a six round pick they lost the opportunity and I believe they have 6 running backs on this team right now to choose from if it doesn't work out they will pull the trigger like they did with amari Cooper and it will be just some other name that's available there always is a few...

Look I'm not sticking up for the front office and how they worked this offseason, and I can care less whether zekes on this team or he's not on this team, all I care about the results so let's just see how this works out...

The team's approach to the position is a lot like the 2015 approach. So we should expect it to overcorrect next year and draft a running back early in the first round.
They aren't going to draft early in the 1st round. I would like the Ohio State back if he makes it through the season healthy.

Couple points:

  • We don't need Zeke as 1st option, like 2016 and 2017.
  • We need someone punch it in on 3rd and goal or keep the chains moving to close out games.
  • Zeke as a pass protector is still top notch.
  • With the year CeeDee just put in, I dare teams to stack the box. So Zeke should have some running room.
  • 1-year deal. They'll likely draft a 2nd day RB in next year's draft (so far they have ~11 picks).
  • If he don't have it, they'll cut him again
  • He should bring leadership to the team and specifically to the RB room.
I'm good with bringing him home.
It's not a matter of stacking the box. When you know a player is not an outside running threat that allows you to attack the line of scrimmage when you see that it's a handoff. In a way, it allows you to un-stack the box and try to take away the pass first because you know your defenders are fast enough to recover against a slow back. The corners and safeties know they don't have to protect the outside as much against the run because the linebackers can run him down if he tries to bounce outside.
