So, they can pay Zeke 3, but Moss at 4 is too much, ok.
I think two things are in play here.

1) Dallas has devalued the RB position, so it wanted to pay as little as possible.

2) Elliott is still one of their own. The Joneses have shown that they do not like paying much at all for outside free agents because they don't know how the players will turn out. They cut Elliott because the production no longer equaled the salary. This salary is more in line with where he is now, although I wouldn't have gone over $2 million.

They aren't going to draft early in the 1st round. I would like the Ohio State back if he makes it through the season healthy.
The Joneses are overreactionary. If RB bombs on us, there's no telling what they will do.

I will agree that if they don't have an early-round pick, then I can't see them trading up. I can see them drafting a first-round back, though, if this "devalued" stance of theirs fails.

That's the thing Jerry has already hinted that he realizes he's taking a little bit of a risk like he did in 2018 with the wide receivers and he's more than willing and remember this they were actually kicking the tires for a couple of these running backs around the trade deadline and didn't pull the trigger I believe he's hinting that they're willing right now to do that before it falls apart a lot of these guys are fully replaceable with their money they're not making any money you can cut 3 running backs mid season and bring in one on the trade deadline.... I mean listen to him talk I think he realizes they really wanted a running back in the draft but they had other deficiencies they wanted to fill and given that they didn't have a fourth round pick in their fifth round pick really wasn't a fifth round pick it was more like a six round pick they lost the opportunity and I believe they have 6 running backs on this team right now to choose from if it doesn't work out they will pull the trigger like they did with amari Cooper and it will be just some other name that's available there always is a few...

Look I'm not sticking up for the front office and how they worked this offseason, and I can care less whether zekes on this team or he's not on this team, all I care about the results so let's just see how this works out...
You explained very well.

I would be esctatic to get that kind of output from Zeke. Dmac was over 1000 yards and and additional 350 in the air.he only started 10 games. Now maybe he was in more but if Zeke can copy that which i doubt I would be doing a happy dance and the team will be performing well
He did not have a bad season. I wouldn't be surprised for Elliott to not have a terrible season, especially if our interior line ends up being a strength. I don't know if even that, though, would be enough to get him back over 4 yards per carry. He was actually running pretty good for us in 2021 and 2022 before lower-body injuries slowed him down. Of course, he seems to be permanently slowed now. Still, I expect somewhere between 3.5 and 3.9 per carry.

Mentioning Zeke's Cowboys jersey number...has anyone heard or seen the reaction to the news from the other half of the "214" duo?
It's been quiet do you think he might be a post-June 1st cut? :muttley:

Why wouldn't you stack the box on 3rd and short especially with someone like zeke? The OL has more to do with it then zeke if the picks pan out like most predict.
On third-and-short, you definitely pinch down if you are defenses, knowing that Elliott isn't a threat to the outside.

That would be an improvement from Zeke’s last 6 games in NE last year when he avg 2.9 yards per carry, lol.
He should only be used for Goal line/short yardage. But they will START him. D Coordinators will be quaking in their shoes.

Can you imagine paying for a ticket to watch one of these games and the product they throw out there is a broke down fat POS like Zeke. I simply can not believe I have to watch him again. This is the saddest thing the team has even done.

The Ohio State back is a 1st rounder at this point and would be an awesome addition to the Cowboys.

Im fine with this. He’s not an RB1 anymore but I think he still has something left. Hes a cowboy. Not sure why people hate Zeke now.
It makes them feel better about their lives....they live the fall from grace and ensuing curbstomp satisfaction.

What an absolute joke
In politics, if you remove enough context, then you can make anything sound good to voters. That is the epitome of “spin.”

So let’s spin it. Close you eyes and say out loud, “Even with all the lallygagging Jerry has done this offseason, he went to work after the draft and somehow managed to acquire another team’s leader rusher!”

Feels pretty good, right?
