Zeke went from best in the league to nothing but a plodder. Why do you guys think this is the case?

Out of shape? Needs to lose weight? Lack of OL? I am not sure I have ever seen a guy lose so much so fast!
Lower-body injuries. He started out 2021 looking the best he had in years. He got his playing weight down and hasd more spring in his step. Only those who dislike the player deny that, but the evidence (numbers) is there. That October, he suffered a knee strain. He hurt his ribs in the next game. Then, he suffered another knee strain in early November and a PCL tear in later November. Just because he played through those injuries made it to where some fans expected those injuries to not take a toll, especially with most of them to his lower body. He probably should have been shut down. The next year, he also started out decently before suffering a knee sprain in October.

Now, no injuries show up in the report on him in 2023, but all of those lower-body injuries may have added up and contributed to him hitting the RB wall. I would expect this year, even if he is somehow revitalized early, for his body to not hold up again because he's just reached the point where that happens. Players want to continue their careers, but sometimes the body just says no.

In politics, if you remove enough context, then you can make anything sound good to voters. That is the epitome of “spin.”

So let’s spin it. Close you eyes and say out loud, “Even with all the lallygagging Jerry has done this offseason, he went to work after the draft and somehow managed to acquire another team’s leader rusher!”

Feels pretty good, right?
Shut up

That's not enough. I can't believe they haven't addressed this via FA or in the draft. We need a starting caliber full time RB.

They will wait to sign him so they don’t lose comp picks. Hope we sign another bruiser to help wear the opposing dline down. Elliot will be ok for 10-12 carry’s a game. If he is used right it won’t be bad. But he isn’t built to carry the load anymore.
I think it will be 12-15. No more 20-carry games, though.

That's why we got Freeman.

I doubt this. Mostly because they will call less running plays because they won't be moving the ball much unless they pass just like last year. I do think he'll get a good amount of playing time though and maybe his total touches top 10+.
I don't know. Our running game wasn't all that effective last year and Pollard still averaged almost 15 carries per game.

The only thing I like about the Zeke signing (although I would have preferred going younger and fresher) is that if McCarthy is going to use a running attack that tries to pound between the tackles, he's better built for that than Pollard. I feel we badly misused Pollard last year. Both Elliott and Freeman better fit what we tried to do with the run last year, although neither will be a threat to break big runs like Pollard was.

He’s not the same back he was but he can still block and grind out those short yardages. I’m ok with it for that reason.

1)) Shouldn't Freeman be the short yardage RB as he weighs in at 5'11 238?

2) I think a healthy Rico should be RB1 over Zeke.

This is ONLY good if we bring in someone else to be the actual lead back. If we do there is nothing wrong with this move. But if we dont? Ohhhhhhh My lanta!
Bring in who, though? Draft and free agency is done. We are now down to the scraps, which is what this front office loves.

The FO brings you a Happy Meal from McDonalds, and tells you "It's a Feast."
And the fans eat it right up!
