"Should" be. Right, a slam dunk guarantee! NO chance he won't be the same. Let's add to death and taxes "Tony Pollard recovers 100%"

But don't forget, Pollard has never been "the guy" for an entire season. What if Dallas cuts Zeke and Pollard tears up a knee? Who's going to take over?
Davis? Dowdle? Neither has set the league on fire in their limited action.

Again, I like Pollard, but he, like ANY OTHER PLAYER, has to prove he can handle the demands of the no. 1 rb. I hope he gets 2,500 yards and 30 rushing tds. Call me negative Nancy or a worry wart or a pessimist if you want, but NOTHING is guaranteed in the NFL....
If we're relying on Zeke to be the bellcow if Pollard aint right this year we'll be drafting high next season. I dont think anyone has suggested Pollard "carry the load." We can draft and get a veteran.

I hope for your sake you are trolling.

If not, get some help.
There's a chance he could be right, but not a very big one. Zeke would have to come into camp looking like a new back, like actually looking like a new back.

If you go back and look at his rookie year, and he was 15 pounds lighter. If he can drop 15 pounds, and still be Zeke, he could bounce back.

That is, if he were to stop partying during the week so much. But he cant be a fat arse at 26, 27 next year and play in the NFL.

That said, it won't happen, because like I was pointing out above, he's lost he drive and will to remain relevant.. for him to be a good player again, he's going to have to work like he's never worked before and I think Zeke would rather party.

Gee, I thought Zeke was a veteran. And nobody said Zeke was going to be the full-time guy, either.

And you're going to pay Pollard $10-plus million a year, dam right he's gonna "carry the load".

Let me guess, all he needs is a 25 mil pay raise. There's no incentive otherwise, same for the mediocre QB, and they still won't get the job done.
Mediocre QBs is one way to get there. You can play Parcells-style football, and your players just have to make plays if you assemble a team around them.

That's where the whole bus-driver concept comes from. I played on a team like that.. very short passes, and runs with 3 athletic backs, but one super dominant one.

It was a blast.

Thank You. I have a feeling Pollard will be fine.

He's a champ, man. That's why I would have tagged him, too. That's the kind of playmaker who helps you win championships.
In all honesty, you can probably look at it like he could also come in mid-season next year.

But I expect Pollard to be back and not miss a beat on this one. It's not a ligament tear or anything along those lines. It was a fracture, and sort of a sprain.

Um...almost.

You tell me what other elite, NFL rushing champion running back had to also play offensive lineman and fullback.

You won't respond...you will cower. and hide.

Because there isn't one who did more than Zeke. And you treat him like sheet for it. Curbstomp his teeth.

To be fair...I am still trying to research the stats.....What rb....especially an "elite" #1 NFL rushing champion....has the most blocks. This would include "chips" while still getting handoff or pass. It would have a weight factor for blocking O line or tiny DB. It would include any double blocking....2 or more "chips" "diversions" or "pancakes" on any given play.

How many did Barry Sanders have?

Cower.
Lol, why would anyone cower to some clown on a football fan forum? Nearly EVERY 5+ year RB Pre-2000 took way more hits/damage then Zeke ever has. It used to be a running league. Only a Zeke jersey wearing groupie would put Zeke over old school RB's. Lame and stupid.

He isn't built for that and wasn't drafted for that.

Saying he has to prove he can handle the demands of being a RB1 is very unreasonable expectations he won't ever live up to.

Barry was on the sidelines in obvious passing situations because he couldn’t block, whereas Emmitt was laying the wood to some people.

Wow. The disrespect for Zeke here is amazing. Dude really sacrificed his body for us. He played hurt and at times was only in to provide great pass protection ... something hardly any #1 backs do anymore.

Y'all angry about his hold out? Seems like RBs got no choice after year three because if the team sits on them they may be done after the 5th year option is up.
Hard to drum up sympathy. If I could work a job I love for 5 years, then retire with 50 million…

Say what? To expect him to be the no. 1 running back since he's going to get paid $10+ million if he stays on the tag? Unreasonable?

Just what has nearly everyone been screaming for? For him to BE THE STARTING RUNNING BACK. That's what being the RB1 means.

No, he wasn't drafted for that, but when he was drafted Zeke was in top form, just had completed an NFL rushing champion season, with 1,434 yards and a 4.7 ypc.

But that was 2019, this is now, Zeke is "washed up", Pollard is certainly expected to have the same kind of stats, if not, what's all the praise for him about?

Look at him before the knee injury. He was fast abd explosive. Plus we all know he had power and blocking. He just needs to sit out when hurt I like pollard to avoid putting out bad take. He also needs a better running scheme abd left guard. I predict pollard will diss a pint with more Carrie’s this year and zeke will be fresh in the second half if the year fir the first time in years and play great.
At least he is paid like an All Pro

Your "sacrificed his body for us" reminds me, I have to buy me a tunic for the 12 stations of the cross procession.

He’s a Cowboys for life.
As Ezekiel Elliott should be!!

I was against signing Zeke to a longer term contract because Off field issues early in career plus the prevailing shift in RB value was changing.

Zeke proved me wrong..He matured off the field and has been a Warrior when Healthy!!

Some Cowboy Fans are so ungrateful!! Probably same tribe that always questions players pay....but ignore the Billionaires pocketing $$$ never taking a snap.

really ? ... you must have been watching a 2016 game video while you were posting this ...... Zeke was Adrian Peterson 2.0 coming out of Ohio State ...

league feared him and the Feed Me sign ..... everyone was geared to stop Elliott. .. but Jason Garrett just ruined him..!! ... flat out ran him into the ground, rarely took him out of the game
had sorry backups like Rod Smith supposely relieving him for just a couple or so plays .... surprised ZKE did not ask for more tap-outs than he did...

Garrett only knows 90's style and envision as more Emmitt Smith bellcow workhorse than a runaway

At only 27 years of age, ...ZKE is following the many paths of very quickly burnt out-used up RBs ..Chris Johnson ..Shady McCoy, Larry Johnson..etc

Who holds out with 2 years left on a contract and holds the organization over a fire? If the holdout had occurred after a couple MVP or super bowl winning seasons I would understand a bit more. But that's not how it went down. It was pure greed, nothing else.

Heck with him..... hope he gets cut.
Someone who had quickly justified his market value status and out played his rookie contract with 2 NFL rushing titles ....

No, he wasn't drafted for that
He should be the starter. Since the beginning of the 2021 season. I (like most in here) have been saying that for a long time.

But that doesn't mean he can handle 25-30 touches a game for 17 games. Glad you agree with me he wasn't drafted for that.

We all know his role. Approx 20 touches a game with a complementary back (or two) getting the rest. Just like almost every other team in the NFL does.
