I disagree, there are more than enough fans that are still going to show up to games and buy gear that don't get triggered because a player said it like it was to the notion that someone with zero input thinks they're the salary authority or in charge of the roster. In fact, besides an anonymous internet forum, I bet there are tons more that just view football as entertainment and don't get wrapped up in that stuff. But for those that feel they are the authority and boycott team sales, why are they here? We've heard that a lot on these boards.
I can only speak for myself but I have never spent a dime with the Jones owned Cowboys, not one. I do not see myself as an authority but I do still consider myself a Cowboys fan, although not a passionate one. Mine is all history and laundry.
That fan that views it as entertainment and doesn't get wrapped up in the money side, poster boy for that and I wish they'd leave all of that out but they won't. Time was they would not talk about that during the broadcast of the game but since Americans are so entranced with money and celebrities have become their gods, it's all about the greenbacks.
Elliott would be well advised not to use money references like "signs my checks" and use "not who I report to" would have been better. Make it about playing, not getting paid.
