Use him on short yardage and goal line packages

Is that specialist role worth still keeping him on the roster -even with a pay cut ?
.
- Admittedly i cannot get excited about Zeke running the ball anymore - unless its' at the goal line, where he is virtually unstoppable

- Even with draw-plays, and stretch runs, he is so slooow with getting it in-out of holes and run lanes. At the least, we get angry, dirty work
3-4 yard runs with no chance of him breaking it away for a long TD run.

- I'm still split at keeping a pay cut Zeke on the roster vs drafting another sleeper in the mid- late rounds (ala Pollard like gem)
Or should we give a Malik Davis a shot at the backup role ?

I don't think there is any way that Zeke is here next year. He will be a cap casualty. I don't see him agreeing to restructure and take a lot less money. jmo
Im hoping not. Hopefully....he can go to a team that can use him right. And block.

Tony running the same plays didnt get much either. 15 yards to the sideline quicker.....doesnt do much.

LMAO @ all these old turds claiming they can outrun Zeke.. You guys are hilarious. Unfortunately it appears Zeke's body is worn down and will end his tenure in Dallas as a blocking back. The end comes for every one.. I'm still happy we have him though and I was glad to see the Kellen Moore read my suggestion and lined him up at wide receiver a couple of times and told him to go get the linebacker or the safety. His blocks sprung Pollard on his two longest runs last night. Those are the blocks I have complained all year that our tight ends and receivers miss all the time. Zeke got them. He did kinda whiff on one other sweep when he was lined up as fullback but he got just enough of the guy to allow Pollard the lane to cut it back for 7-8 yards but if Zeke hit's him solid that one might have scored. But on the other two Zeke creamed his man and paved the way for a nice gain. I know people like to crap all over the guy for his salary (like he pays himself) but as a former football player who spent most of his playing days as a role/complementary player I appreciate a former superstar who embraces shifting into that role as gracefully as Zeke has. I'll miss him when he's gone. But he's got three more games to play for the Cowboys!
Good reminder. The announcers, smarter than some here....noted those two big runs sprung by zeke.
These same idiots will see tony become less effective without zeke and turn on him too.

He’s useless I’m faster than him and I’m 40. San Fran d is a monster. Need speed and someone to hit hole hard. Play Davis instead - Zeke as deco and pass block only. STOP WITH THE ZEKE RUN UP MIDDLE!!!!
Short yardage specialist at this point.
He should be used accordingly.

Exactly.. People keep convincing themselves that the team is more interested in appeasing them than it is in winning. What they're doing is working.. I see zero reason to stop doing what they're doing until it stops working.
It makes no sense. If they run Zeke 13 times and he has 30 yards.....but Tony the change of pace back has 80 yards on 10 carries....who's to say that didn't help Pollard? People think things are just black and white. If he has 10 carries on 80 yards let's give him 30 so he can have 240 yards lol....

Yeah people ignoring that Pollard's two longest runs were very much created by two great blocks by Zeke. I don't get that. But I've never understood people who whine after such a great win. And don't want to..

I guess but when you watch the two play, it's pretty clear one is just the better TB right now. The better TB should get the bulk of the carries IMO.

If they want to play them both at the same time, great. As Ronnie mentioned, Zeke had a couple key blocks. But right now, Pollard is just the better player with the ball in his hands. Wouldn't one want the ball as much as possible in the hands of their best playmakers?

Yeah we knew going in that inside running was going to be a bear against that defense. But we also knew they absolutely HAD to do it otherwise the offense doesn't work. So Zeke was offered up as the sacrificial lamb to pound the ball inside against Vea and Hicks who were pretty much owning our interior line. Again.. thankless but necessary work for the offense to function.

It sucks we are going to have to let pollard walk. I would keep zeke , davis and add another rb in the later rounds in the draft. Following year cut zeke or give him a huge paycut

I don't disagree.. The toll of the workload and the blocking and that damn knee has taken too much starch out of Zeke at this point. But I don't think you can run Pollard 20-25 times into a defense like Tampa's or against the next opponent either. But you can't just run outside all game long.. so somebody has to take that beating.. Zeke.. you're up big boy.. you won't get any yards or any appreciation from outside the locker room, but go take that beating so our offense can function.

Zeke has like a $16 million cap hit in 2023. That's roster mismanagement. Make him a June 1 cut if he won't take a massive pay cut.

This myth that Pollard can't run between the tackles needs to stop. Yeah, you aren't going to plow him into the middle of the line 15-17 times a game, but he's shown he can run between the tackles.

The problem is then you go into the season with malik davis and a rookie and some vet. Tough call

Making Zeke a June first cut saves 10 mil on the salary cap.

Franchise tag number for RB’s is projected at 9.5 million. Just sayin.

You could make Zeke a post June cut.

Franchise pollard

Draft a RB in 3-4 round.

That way Zeke is gone. You have pollard and a rookie plus Malik Davis next year.

The year following you let pollard walk and know if your young RB is ready. If not… draft another.

This is what I would do. All day.

This upcoming draft has a lot of talented backs. Should be able to get a good one in the mid rounds.
