I dont see it. Dickerson had an extra gear that you seldom see. He said he only got run down from behind only once in his career, and he didnt even have to turn around to see who it was. It was Darrel Green fastest man in the league.

The Duane Thomas comparison is interesting. My memory is fading on his blocking ability, but what a waste of talent.

Has a little bit of Barry Sanders, Bo Jackson and Emmitt Smith in him.
I dont see Sanders at all, nobody eluded and made guys miss like Sanders. I dont see Bo either. Bo was like somebody chiseled an athlete out of stone and made him come to life, one of the most gifted athletes I ever saw.

If you asked me if I would rather have a healthy Adrian Peterson this year or Zeke Elliott this year, my answer would be Peterson.

If McCoy was in this offense, I think he would have a lot of success as well. He is more dynamic than Elliott..

Lamar Miller and DeMarco Murray are in the conversation as well. David Johnson and Devonta Freeman bring up the rear of the conversation. A healthy Jamaal Charles has to be up there too.

Totally disagree. None of those guys pass protect, receive the ball, protect the ball, and have the power, quickness, AND speed of Elliott.

Zeke is a young Peterson. I think he's a lot like Bo Jackson.

I'm a big fan of Murray. But let me give you my honest assessment on the difference between the two of them.

In favor of Murray: He was a much more aggressive runner and more physical. Probably better in tgoalline than Elliott at this point. Murray actually seems more comfortable in space than Elliott. Probably a better receiving option at this point. He seems less injury prone than Murray.

In favor of Elliott: Elliott has much better vision. He has better speed and quick cut than Murray. While Murray is more likely to get you 3 or 4 yards when there is nothing there, Elliott is more likely to get you 10 yards when there is nothing there, though I think he is more prone to being stopped at the line of scrimmage. Bigger home run threat than Murray.

Where I think Murray was a top 5-10 running back that was propelled by this offensive line into a top 3 running back, I think Elliott is a top 3-5 running back that is being propelled by this offensive line into the best running back in the league.

One big difference between Elliot and Murray is that Elliot finishes his runs.

Murray had an odd habit of running out of bounds unnecessarily. I remember seeing him sit down on a run well downfield when he realized some DBs had an angle and were gaining on him..... almost like he was trying to stay inbounds to keep the clock running.

It's really hard to compare him to Curtis Martin, because Zeke is 15 lbs. heavier. Same with Emmitt or Sweetness. I think the Bo Jackson comparison comes the closest. Bo played at 6-1, 227, & was a multi-sport player, as Zeke was throughout H.S. (Missouri 4-medal hurdling champion). Both ran with power & speed. I can't remember how well Bo pass protected, or caught the football. One thing I do know, is that I would not want ANYONE else playing RB for the Dallas Cowboys right now than Zeke Elliott! He's an attacking menace that DBs want no part of. He saved Dak Prescott more than once yesterday in pass pro, & he made plays as a receiver. The fact that he's already breaking NFL records-first to run for 130+ yards 4 consecutive games as a rookie-tells me all I want to know about his power, vision, speed, & aggressiveness. If he's not the complete package, I don't know who is.

One huge difference to me is that Zeke inspires his teammates. Thomas was a brooding ***.
Lol. Yes...he was an interesting "character" to say the least. But if you really study his career, he was that way with some merit...not just merely being a jerk for the sake of it. He played during an era of complete and utter lack of transparency when it came to player compensation. Duane was a highly intelligent person overall (not just football) and went on to become pretty success post football. I think he bristled harshly at the gaming front offices did at that time (even Roger and Bob Lily's own stories validate the sneakiness that Tex Schramm used backed then when it came to tough negotiations) and it effected greatly duane's demeanor (along with a swindling agent and a bitter divorce). And personality wise, one could argue he much more closely emulated the modern athlete vs the typical norms of that era, which didn't necessarily make him a bad dude...just misunderstood. If he had played in an era of transparency (like today's) I think the narrative on him would be very different. It's too bad since, with him, I think we win two more super bowls in the 70s than what we did. He certainly would have been way better primary back options than Newhouse and Preston Pearson!?'

But running style wise, which is the point of the OP...no question in my view that that's Zeke's football-toting doppelgänger.

Honestly, I can't remember as complete a back as Zeke. He has it all -- speed, vision, cutting, pass catching, blocking -- and in spades.

Adrian Peterson and LeSean McCoy are probably better than him at the moment all things being equal.

David Johnson is awesome. So is Leveon Bell. Plenty of great RB's in the league that would be doing 120 yards per game behind this line.

Easy....Eric Dickerson was a very bad man. I could watch him run all day. Just like I could watch Terry Glenn run routes all day. Both of these guy had the grace and elegance of ballet dancers at their positions!

I posted something in another thread but think it'll get buried there.

The closest Dallas back and someone who he sorta reminds me of is Duane Thomas.

Curtis Martin is another RB he reminds me of but still not quite it. Maybe that's as close as it'll get.

But I thought others might come up with better comparisons.
I can see that.
Both have/had speed, power, and could block and catch.
Martin had a faster 40 time (4.4 vs 4.45 ...and in a era when players didn't train as much for that stuff)
But Zeke is bigger (6'1 225 vs 5'11 210)

Zeke is a monster for sure.

He reminds me of Jim Brown. He can plow up the middle, he can sweep the end and when the daylight appears he can just flat out run faster than the guys chasing him.
