Zeke will lead the NFL in yards from scrimmage

This season. That was the prediction from Mike Greenberg this morning on Mike and Mike. Predictions and opinions are just that but just throwing it out there. Nice to get a little love!

I'd say 800 yards. Starts game 4.

You think he's gonna start 13 games and get 800 yards? Oh I guess you meant 800 yards in game 4! That'd be outstanding! I love you enthusiasm!

Why? Based on the cost, and what Murray did in 2014, the expectations should be sky high. Anything less is a poor return on investment.

We get it, stash, you hate the pick. Is this going to be like a 5 year whine fest, bro? For real? It's done. Get over it, homie.

He will till Jason Garrett kills him ...... he hates him you know.

Or maybe its just stasheroo in a Jason Garrett mask?

I'm not "hating" on it. I'm just expecting results from the investment. If that's more than you can handle from me, I suggest using the Ignore function. That way you'll save yourself from "whining" about any criticism or expectations, which is becoming obvious that those clamoring for him now can't handle in any way, shape, or form.

What were you thinking? We draft the guy and don't deserve to have expectations? After the price paid?

Ignore function it is. You've become nothing but a whiny ***** the past few weeks. Not worth rummaging through. Have a good one, dude.

While I think there need to be solid expectations. The draft cost is specific. The salary cap cost is specific. The expectations should be too.

The bar has been set, and set recently. Murray got 1,800 behind this line with Romo and Bryant. McFadden got 1,100 with a late start and neither Romo nor Bryant. And Gurley had 1,100 coming off of injury in a far worse offense.

The expectations for Elliott are clear to me. And I'm not lowering mine so that the Cowboys can look, better.

Not saying I don't have expectation for Elliott, just that I don't see a reason to put a specific number on them.

If he rushes for 2,000 yards on 3.5 YPC, then he didn't meet my expectations. If he rushes for 1,000 on 6.7, then he likely did ... although either he missed time because of injury or Dallas' coaches were stupid and went with a RBBC.

I think 5.0 per carry will depend on a lot of factors. I think 1,800 will depend on a lot of factors. Setting a numerical bar without knowing what will factor into the equation is just setting yourself up to be disappointed. What I want for him is simply to consistently be able to turn out positive yards no matter the situation and to be able to convert short-yardage opportunities when given the chance.

No different than lowering the bar in advance in a clear effort to put all parties in a 'can't lose' situation.

It would not surprise me if he did lead the league. He will quickly become Romos best friend in pass protection and an outlet. If he is ready there will be no holding him back. He will start game 1 IMO.

Things need to simmer down by a lot here. Do not get personal over this. This is not worth it. Relax and get back to an even discussion.

If you have to, step away from the thread until you can get even in your thoughts.

This is true. I mean, we all kinda expect that we will be able to control the clock and play from ahead in most of our games but honestly, if we don't get dramatically better Defensively, we could find ourselves in a situation where we are playing catch up a lot. If that happens, Elliot is not going to get nearly the carries because we will be busy throwing the ball 50 times and then, it's only a matter of time before Tony is on the shelf. It's not a guarantee that Zeke has a Pro Bowl type season.

If Tony plays a full season then zeke has a shot. Defenses have to respect the pass

There are just too many factors to consider to put a number on it. I can say that if our offense is healthy and Elliott averages less than 4 yards per carry then there's probably no good reason for that. Still, playing the numbers game without seeing how the season unfolds is an exercise in futility.

For example, Romo had more interceptions (7) than TDs (5) last year. That meant he was a bad QB, right? Hardly, if you look deeper than just those numbers.

more realistic is around 1200 yards rushing 350 rec and 11 TDs...I don't think that will lead the league but will be a very good rookie year.

Why is that more realistic? 600 yards less than Murray? He's going to get Minimum 20-25 carries a game. He's our workhorse. Will get much more than 1200 yards
