Emmitt Smith…Three rings, HOF, ROH, MVP.

Ezekiel Elliott….a couple of rushing titles.

They moved on from Emmitt when the time came quite easily.

This shouldn’t even be a debate, but the senior bowl comments have accomplished the following……

We are talking about the Cowboys, with that much less attention on the playoff loss.

If this was somehow calculated I’d call it genius, but I’d guess it’s more like those two not being on the same page, and/or not having much of a clue as to what they are actually looking at. One of them being 80 doesn’t help.

I wouldn’t look too much into it.

This is simply his agent speaking saying “well if you don’t pay us, we will go get XX amount of money on the open market!”

It’s like Daniel Jones asking for $45 million. You know it, I know it, he knows he won’t get that 45. But by saying this is what I want / can get, they likely meet somewhere in the middle. As opposed to telling Zeke vet minimum or see ya.

Determine? Zeke is my favorite cowboy but its a forgone conclusion you cant pay him that much for what hes producing

he takes a paycut or gets moved to another team

Sure, but if it’s about football, they shouldn’t even want him at the league minimum.

It’s really just time to move on. There’s many examples in recent league history. Emmitt is just the one I used….and also why something along the lines of ‘nostalgia’ shouldn’t be a factor.

Like him, don’t like him, doesn’t matter.

It’s just time.

The biggest issue is he would be taking the roster spot of a RB that may be able to help the team moving ahead.

We honestly need two new backs, and that shouldn’t have anyone in a panic. They count on mid rounders to be ready right away to a fault. At the RB position, that can actually happen.

So, if they stick to recent history, they will take advantage of the cap savings and cut Elliott, and draft players that they expect to play immediately.

It may come down to some petty crap like…’you got your way last time, so I get this one…etc’

That’s the problem with GM by committee, but some don’t see it that way.

Zeke passed the 5 year RB trajectory. As good as he was, there is another guy that was better than him in his prime on the Titans, Derrick Henry and while they got farther, they need a QB. The reality is, you are on a short timeline to win with these guys, meaning they are more a complementary piece to a great Qb.

It just sucks we couldn’t have capitalized on him with Romo, whom he was actually drafted for. Another casualty to the Jason Garrett of QB training experiment Dak.

Interesting to see Henry still producing at a high level even without a legitimate QB to help keep defenses stay honest yet Zeke is bottoming about with a supposed Top 10 QB.

Ill probably get heck for this.....we would have been a different team with romo. Kills me we benched him out of superstition.
But steve, he'll just bust his spine again...they will say.

Two things.....dak finally allowed romo the time to truly heal instead of playing injured.
And....
Zeke.

A fresh helthy zeke and good o line.

Oh well.

Henry is a generational talent, unique like a Bo Jackson was. The way he runs, even shifting laterally while still moving at top flight slowed at his speed, it’s a sight to behold.
If he had a real QB, he probably would have already gotten a SB. Ryan Tannehil gave them a couple of good years after coming from Miami, but being who he is, like Dak, wasted teams potential.

Henry also gets the ball no matter what. He had a number of sub 3 ypc games over the last two seasons and still got in the neighborhood of 20 carries anyway.

Since 2020 Henry has has 5 games of 3 ypc or less but still got more than 15 carries. In back to back games in 2021 before he got hurt he had 29 carrries for 86 yards (2.97) and 28 carries for 68 yards (2.43). It that same span he has had 10 games with at least 20 carries but < 4 ypc. That never happens for Zeke. If he's gettin 2.5 ypc Moore was airing it out. Or at least trying to.

Looking at Zeke's ledger in that same timeframe.

Since 2020 Zeke has had ONE game of at least 20 carries and less than 4 ypc and only 4 games with 3 ypc or less and at least 15 carries. What that tells me is that when Zeke is being stuffed the Cowboys have gone elsewhere. When Henry is being stuffed the Titans kinda just say "figure it out big fella" and keep handing him the ball. Not to diminish what Henry is doing.. because he is ballin at a high level. But he keeps getting opportunities no matter what while since Kellen Moore took over the play calling has absolutely not been the case for Zeke.

I also think we are ignoring that much like the Cowboys in 2016-2019, the Titans are BUILT around running the ball. They draft their linemen to run block and their blocking schemes are.. well.. less stupid than what the Cowboys do. That's why you see so many highlights of Henry getting to the second level untouched.

P.S. I suspect if Henry "had a real QB" he would not be getting the opportunities that he has been getting. I'm sure he'd make that trade in a heartbeat though.

No I meant the Eagles take on Zeke and his contract but get Parsons still on his rookie and we all know Parsons is a die hard bleeding green eagles fan, born and raised in the outer Philly metro area. We get the Eagles' next 3 firsts including a good one this spring. Win win for both sides.
Harrisburg is not in the Philadelphia metro area. NFL fans there are pretty well divided between the Steelers, Eagles and Ravens. The closest NFL city to Harrisburg is Baltimore.

Zeke's agents will determine?

I think he's already been asked to take a pay cut and his agents are now scrambling to see what his market value might be if he's released. Waiting until after the combine is not a good idea. Suppose a couple of RBs have stellar workouts, the free agent market won't be what it is now if a team thinks they can get someone for 1/10th the price in mid-rounds.

Well since 2020, Pollard has been taking the load and has become the better back.

Probably helps Henry too that size wise he's the size of a linebacker that a lot of defenders don't want to take head on.

Zeke IMO has no leverage for fighting a paycut unless he wants to go somewhere else. The past few years have seen him decline as the year goes on. Injury or not, it's not an ideal look for a back, in a league that now doesn't put too much emphasis on paying top dollar for running backs. Add in the carries he's had, the obvious regression and lack of dual threat I can't see many team willing to pay him more than a few mil over minimum.

Well given Henry is a running back and not a fullback I would not expect him to be used in such a piss-poor manner the last few years but that is what Dallas did with Zeke as my guess is they saw his declining rushing skills and used him more as a blocking back.

...Zeke's agent is going to ruin his life. Greed will destroy another.

Its obvious, Zeke has lost few steps. The combine wont make difference.

He wants to stay in Dallas, its obvious.
