Which they very well could do next year to go along with their 3rd 12 win season in a row.
Barring a very bad injury run they should win between 10 and 13 games next year.

They’ve gotta get past that divisional round for the current narrative to stop though. 8-9 and two playoff wins would be better.

It’s just how it is. Championships are tough to get and no one should be judged on that only, but they need to advance further more consistently before they get any type of benefit of the doubt from the one percenters around here.

The other 99 are like yourself, and among the ones who chant Jerry’s name in camp, so you’re good. For now. I wouldn’t recommend another decade of it though.

Yeah I dont get that either. Is he going run the combine again? And hope that helps? lol
No. They probably want to see what level of talent at the RB position is coming out this year. See how deep the talent pool is. If it's deep, then they'll have to restructure.

If it's thin, then they can stand their ground.

In other words, the agent is going to shop Zeke around and see what other teams would be willing to pay.

If its higher than the Cowboy's offer, they take the release.

If the Cowboy's offer is higher, they take the pay cut.

Cant see Zeke's value being more than 2-3 mill a year tops on the open market, so it comes down to how much of a pay cut do the Cowboys want Zeke to take.

This guy hasn’t done anything but play hard for years but “fans” totally discount that because they are mad about how high McClay drafted him or that the front office decided to resign him, he’s now, essentially, been reduced to a steaming turd in the eyes of the local football Intelligentsia (/snort)

You guys should check yourselves.

I just can't see too many teams with a glaring need at RB especially with a draft rich in RBs coming up. Even the 32nd ranked rushing team can just get a good back on a rookie contract and fresh legs here in a matter of weeks.

These guys who harbor irrational hatred for our own players is a really weird thing which I will never really understand and frankly don't want to. The Cowboys could have ridden Zeke to great heights if they didn't have a moron for a head coach his first 4-5 years here. Now that they have a good coach he's not the horse he once was so they can't saddle him up. It is what it is.. If he stays I'll scream like hell for him.. If he goes I'll scream like hell for whomever they replace him with.

Don’t hate Zeke but if he is done then he needs to go. You do not win games keeping washed up players.

I'm a dude, I check myself frequently.

I want to win. Zeke's effectiveness is just not there anymore. Nothing personal, I'm happy for him that he's a very rich man. Now it's time to move on. No hate, no anything, just time.

While I do not like his hold out when he was under contract, my thought process is similar to the logic Zeke displayed during his holdout.

It's about business. While he has been worn down he was highly compensated for it. Now his speed and quickness has left he is no longer useful. As a Cowboy fan my business is concerned about winning. If a player is worthy of a contract then pay him, but if they are overpriced cut them.

Why?

Because allocation of resources should go to whatever players help us win. Zeke is a declining asset and requires replacement, so his role can be filled at a reduced salary. That money hopefully goes elsewhere.

Stand their ground like zeke did on the last play of the 49ers game!
