Morris is our best RB at this point. But Zeke is the first rounder and despite missing much of preseason will get the playing time. Wonder if that's even in the coaches hand.

Morris had better lanes to run. Zeke didn't. Zeke was game planned/keyed on... Morris was the backup coming in... Kinda like how Joseph Randle, Troy Hambrick, any backup looks at times because teams aren't accounting for them as much. Not saying Morris is them... Just saying, give Zeke the lanes Morris had and he would have made more out of his night. That simple. Zeke hardly had anything blocking wise... But of course backs always look better when they have holes to run through.

If we had any down field threat in the passing game it would have opened up for him. Underneath routes all day allow the defense to pack in tight. I thought Dak had Zeke in the flat a few times.

I'd be interested to hear analysis of the difference in production. Curious if there were simply better lanes for Morris just by chance, or whether Morris was seeing and reacting better than Elliott.

That's what you'll hear. But the fact is that Morris is the better back working with this offensive line right now.

Our OL looked mightily OVERRATED today.....
I think Zeke' hammie is more of a problem than we were lead to believe.

He didn't seem to have any explosion or cutting quickness.

Hope I'm wrong.

He never did any cutbacks or changes of direction..it was just straight ahead.

Worry-some from your #1 RB.

He was never touching Dickerson's record, and shame on the media for bringing it up.

Exactly, Big Jerry wanted his #4 pick in the draft to have a good debut and what Big Jerry wants supercedes any silly notions of winning a game. I can't wrap my mind why Little Jerry stopped running Morris when it was working.

I mean we are talking about a coach who iced his own kicker to lose a game. Winning is not important to these losers. As fans we have to come to the terms that this is not a winning organization. Winning means more to the fans than Big Jerry and his puppet Little Jerry.

On the plus side, he looked great in pass protection and at least moved forward instead of backward. The TD was nice too.

But he's the 4th overall pick, we needed a better game from him. He didn't seem explosive at all.

I think we are all disappointed in week 1 statistical performance of Zeke.
So many already calling him a bust and making fun of the ROY talk.
So I took a look around the league to put our running struggles into some perspective.

Zeke Elliott 20 for 51 = 2.5ypc
Tevin Coleman 8 for 22. =2.8ypc
Adrian Peterson 19 for 31. =1.6ypc
TJ Yeldon 21 for 39. =1.9ypc
Doug Martin 18 for 62 = 3.4ypc
Lasean McCoy 16 for 58 = 3.6ypc
Demarco Murray 13 for 42 = 3.2ypc
Devonta Freemen 11 for 20 = 1.8ypc
Derrick Henry 5 for 3 yards = 0.3 Ypc
Arian Foster 13 for 38 = 2.9 ypc
Thomas Rawls 12 for 32 = 2.7ypc
Lamar Miller 28 for 106 = 3.8ypc

Emmitt Smith 1st game. 2 for 2 yards- 1ypc

It seems to be that running the ball effectively just wasn't happening today in the league.

Its way too early for people to panic on Zeke's first game. (but man it did suck)

the BIGGEST problem was this:
R. Jennings

18 75 0 17
S. Vereen 6 38 0 10
....and all our D#

For the heck of it, I looked at Adrian Peterson's first ever game. It was very good, on the flip side...his second game was almost identical to Zeke.

Moral of the story, it's early and he will obviously get better.

People need to step away from the ledge... It's one damn game. I've been a fan for 35 years. Fans want and demand immediate success from players and coaches these days. Didn't use to be that way.

Zeke and Dak both flashed at different points in the game yesterday. They also both showed that they are rookies as well. Patience friends. We won't know what we truly have in either player until they get more games under their belt.

Also-- we simply HAVE to tip our hats to the NYG D. They showed up and played very well and frustrated our OL. We should have more room to run next week.

Honestly this is where I'm at right now. The Giants just flat out manhandled Dallas on both sides of the ball. Hats off to them.

Perhaps I was one of the few that expected exactly what I saw out there, but they both looked fine. Zeke was obviously keyed on. The Giants stacked the box and kept the receivers in front of them because they felt Garrett would run out a conservative "take what they give you" game-plan for his rookie QB. The Giants were 100% right, so credit to them.

Dak played like he did in Seattle. The oline was manhandled on run blocking and Free + Collins were beaten time after time. Dez had a single catch... 1..

I think the Giants D is vastly improved and is a top 10 D.
