Needs a couple of 200 yard games, which he hasn't done yet.

If he can break Murray's record this year....I'm happy.

My only concern with a bruiser like Elliott..is that he doesn't end up like one of my all time favourite...Earl Campbell. Elliott could get big yardage behind this line. No question. If the club plans to over use him...and thats OK...Really do it in the Playoffs.

he not even getting hit like that until the second level those dudes not doing nothing to him at 21 yrs old he's as big and he's running into them way more than they hitting him.... they holding on imo and safety's they like college hits

I would love for him to run for 2,000 yards. But, I would prefer that we conserve him so he can have a long and healthy career. I would rather have us keep his carries around to less than 320 per year (still 20 carries per game). That would be 6.25 yards per carry to get to 2,000. So, it's unlikely to happen.

We can be like the San Antonio Spurs who used advanced data analytics to help elongate the careers of players like Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobli and Tony Parker and became a great franchise for the past 20 years or we can follow the norm and burn guys like Elliott out and hope we get a ring or two out of it while having up-and-down seasons.

I gotta be honest. I am not looking to plan out his long career.

I want a couple of titles with his help. If he has a great five years and gets us two SB wins. That's great,

Long term plan with our leadership is futile.

Go in, get it, gimme two please!

I agree, Emmitt had 3 SBs in his first six years. If he had retired after the 3rd I believe he would still have been in HOF.

There's no reason why we can't win titles and prolong his career to help us win even more than 2 titles. You have to play the odds and I would rather have him be a wildly productive player for 12 seasons than to have him reach 2,000 yards and flame out after 5-6 years.

The Spurs were smart and way ahead of the curve of every single organization in major professional sports. They make the Patriots look archaic. Duncan played for them for 21 years, Parker has been playing for them for 16 seasons and Ginobli is playing in his 18th season. And they are still very productive players.

It's time to stop being foolish.

Playoff Wins, 2006-2016
Top 5 defenses: 51
Top 5 passers: 45
Top 5 rushers: 14

Defenses based on points per drive
Passers based on passer rating
Rushers based on rushing yards

Nice statistic. I ageee we need defensive help, who doesn't? But this year for example, the final 4 teams consisted of a mix of ok to poor defenses. I believe we are playing on Sunday if we just had one pass rusher teams had to focus on. We probably rank better than the Falcons defense but I would take them because of Beasley alone. Problem is, elite pass rushers in the 4-3 are hard to find.

The offense Dallas is running is far from original but man today's NFL, it is definately different. We have a top 3 offensive line and a top 3 running back...coupled with a QB that compliments a running game and a coach that has been balanced l---Zeke is looking at having 1500 yards for next 3-4 years if he stays on the field. I don't see how that's debatable.

The offense we play is sustainable, especially when you factor in our youth. If you give them a top 10 defense or even middle of the pack defense similar to what we have with one elite rusher, we will be winning a lot of playoff games in the next 5 years.

Still trolling for my attention, I see. Sitting there in your Matt Cassell jersey, the gmoney troll. What a joke.

What's funny is that I've been accused numerous times of being only about stats and only bringing stats to the discussion. You can always count on the gmoney troll to be sitting in the corner eating paste while the adults are talking.
:lmao2:

How can you really debate that a back with top 5 talent and an elite offensive line in a balanced offense is not going to get 1500 at least a year if healthy?

He will get 20 or more carries a game for sure and the guy is only 21, he hasn't even peaked yet. I actually saw him improve as far as being a more patient runner as the season progressed.

It would be sweet if the coaches felt the same way.

You do know Zeke had the most carries in the game? While only playing 14.5 games?

If we didn't have everything wrapped up in 14 games...he breaks 1800 which is quite impressive considering how bad he was the first two weeks.

It's really hard to look at his volume and blame the coaches that he didn't get the ball more.

Actually, he could rush for 1000 yards in 10 games if the NFL decides to suspend him. An announcement is coming after the SB.

No way he gets's suspended. The NFL will get eaten alive in court. If he gets suspended, Jerry Jones is going to have a dream team of lawyers at Zeke's disposal. You can't suspend a guy for something that didn't even go to trial. The NFL only prolonged it "just in case" something came out during the season, they didn't want another Ray Rice or Greg Hardy situation.

I also know that most teams in the league are pass happy and most defenses designed to stop those same pass happy offenses. A perfect opportunity to run it down peoples throats. When it's working you've got to ride it 'til the wheels fall off because it may never line up the same way again.

Emmitt could bruise...but he was a slippery little devil also...personally, l was a Dorsett lover...l was very seriously emotionally attached to those old Cowboy teams.

I think I had a stroke when he went to Denver

Agreed, there is no suspension coming unless the DA somehow comes up with something after a year of hearsay investigating. Not gonna happen.

with your view of cowboys offense, how do you explain the 7-10 loss to the giants, or even such a poor start in playoff game down 3-21??

I would welcome those long runs, along with a few 200-yard games.
Being kind of a Ohio State fan and seeing Zeke do that very thing almost every Saturday I have to admit I was a little disappointed he didn't have a couple of breakaway long runs this year.
