That's because the league is so archaic in how to use, practice, train and monitor players. It wasn't too long ago that you would be hard pressed to find an effective QB that could last until he's 35 years old. And now we have a 39 year old QB that played at an MVP level in the Super Bowl with a 38 year old QB that threw for over 5,000 yards this year.

YR

Players don't want it like that.

And...

Exception nowadays not the rule.

I would much rather him average 1600 yards + a long run in the playoffs over the next 6 years....than to have him get 2000 1 year...then burn out during the playoffs. Or get 2000 1 year...and start to fade in years 4 or 5.

That is just it, it would have been a team record , it isnt just a RB's record.
The RB cant do it on a bad team or with a bad OL.
I know in 2014 the OL were proud of helping murray set records, it wasnt just murray.

When oj went for the 2000 yd mark the OL wanted him to get it, and knew they were part of it, and went all out to help him do it.
I think getting the dickerson record and getting that 14th win were important to the morale of the team.
JG didnt think so and look what happened.
They didnt get either record, and didnt play the last game to win, and to stay in the groove, had to let philly beat them,
and I think that took some steam out of the players.
It sure didnt help, when the playoff game started.

We can agree to disagree. I don't think the team was any less hype about a playoff game at home because Jason Garrett was cautious in week 17.

What is a top 7 running back? It's a team game---if Zeke has 2,000 yards or if Zeke and McFadden has 2,000 yards, it doesn't matter.
It really doesn't. If you were to look at team rushing yards, you'd see similar low totals of playoff wins. The most successful teams are the ones that pass and stop the pass most effectively. So until the Cowboys put together a defense that can perform against playoff-caliber offenses (top-10 offenses scored 40% more points vs. Dallas than lower-ranked offenses in 2016), we'll continue to have to try to outscore opponents in the postseason.

No team has ever won a Super Bowl that way, having an average-to-bad regular season defense, then giving up the league average (or worse) in points per game in the playoffs. Even if the Falcons allow 30+ points and win this Sunday, that would be once that the aforementioned scenario has taken place in 51 years. Not what you'd call a formula for winning, in other words.

The only thing I would advise is to not take crushing tackles. Career enders.

Playoff Wins, 2006-2016
Top 5 defenses: 51
Top 5 passers: 45
Top 5 rushers: 14

Defenses based on points per drive
Passers based on passer rating
Rushers based on rushing yards
You're preaching to the deaf, mute and blind.

They like their running backs. They think we won in 2014 and 2016 because of Murray and Zeke respectively and lost in 2015 because Dmac was our lead back. Ignoring what happened at the QB position.

It's a sad state of the fantasy football generation.

That could be because in a playoff game or SB, the rushing team gets away from running and trys to pass to win?
Just like Dallas did in this last GB game

I'm hoping Zeke can be an exception to the rule the same way Emmitt was.....when it comes to durability.

Next year, Big Mama. Next year

She needs to make sure Garrett and Linehan are on the same page and not forget him on 3rd and short or in the red zone. Hell, give it to him on 3rd and long too.
