We're still not getting it are we....

Needs to be a OLB in a 3-4 to get the best out of him and reduce the chance of injury.

This is really what Zim wanted to begin with. If you look at his history his DEs are usually in the 250-270 range. Micah while a great pass rusher is light in the wallet. I think Zim capitulated to try and adapt his scheme to the players which I felt was a mistake In this case.

What was supposed to happen is Dlaw and Sam Williams would set the edge and hold up blocks in the run game allow Micah to Rome free and make plays all over the field. Instead you have Micah taking on blocks all game because of the glory that comes with pass rushing. Had he played LB from the start of this season he’d be in a position to make more “impactful” plays in the run game and still get an opportunity to rush the passer.

Overshown getting hurt sucks. But I would expect an improved run D with Micah at LB. As time goes on Zimmer seems to finally be able to put his scheme into play.
Doesnt matter, Zimmer has 4 games left and then his arse is out the door along with Fat Mike.

Micah was a non-factor against the Bengals, zero tackles, zero sacks. If he doesn't contribute as a DE, he's even less of a LB.
He had 7 QB pressures in the first half alone. He dominated the rookie RT all day.

That was one of the better games of his career even if official stats dont show.

And i am by far no Parsons fan.

......thats what he does against great offenses...he goes AWOL.

Bills, Packers, Dolphins, and now the Bengals.

However in fairness, working besides these crap DTs isn't exactly helping his cause
Nah bro he was TIRED!!!!! He should be well rested playing LB

You can't pull Parsons off of pass rushing at this point.

You know fans talk about how a big, nasty NT would improve the defense around them, by taking on double teams and freeing up teammates to make plays? That's literally what Parsons does in the passing game. He draws double teams on 30% of passing plays and chips on another 20% or so, freeing up his teammates probably 20 extra times per game. And then he still beats two blockers anyway.

He could probably be a good Mike, but he's not the kind of Mike backer who just breaks the laws of football like that.

Micah is a LB based on his size. He can be a plus player vs run and pass at LB, but that’s going to mean he’s going to need to start watching film. My prediction is he’s going to be in no man’s land far too often but we shall see!

Micah played hard in this game, moreso than others imo. We were also playing a 4 win team who passes more than any team in the nfl. Micah probably thought he’d get multiple sacks this game rushing off the edge. JB threw it 44 times lol.

did you watch the game? the man was doubled and tripled team most of the game. you should be asking why didn't anyone else get any pressure on the QB?
A good DE is measured by sacks, if there are no sacks the rest is unnecessary, Micah is ranked 31st in the DE rankings, Micah has a long way to go to even reach what DWare was.

Watch the game.

I can't even with these fantasy football "experts"

I like it just so we can get some more reps for Kneeland, etc. and see what Micah will look like at LB.

The season is over, lets mix some things up and see what happens.

I wonder if this is Zimmer's way of getting him to move around. They mentioned during the game how Zimmer gives him the flexibility to line up anywhere and attack, but he seems to settle in more at the left defensive end spot while Zimmer wants him to move and keep the offense guessing. We haven't seen him come up the middle as much, or as effectively, as he did under Quinn, so maybe this would be Zimmer's way of getting him to do that.

He had a bunch of pressures so he shouldn't be overly criticized for ending up with no sacks (Burrow did a good job of feeling pressure, escaping and throwing on the run.) But a good thing can always be better.
Yes. He was drafted as a MLB that could blitz. Quinn made him one dimensional we he filled in at DE his rookie year.

Go back and look at that Penn st. Bowl game at the death star. He can effect the game all over the field. I hope this is what Zimmer brings out of him. It would also lengthen his career.

This was obviously how we always should have been using him. Like all the smaller edge rushers - get him off the dline on base downs.

Besides being a liability against the run on the dline, it wears him down for the rest of the game, and the season.

Has the speed and agility to be a monster in the middle in coverage or run defense. And then he can still blitz from there too. On clear pass downs, then you put him on the edge.

This is how you get the most out of Parsons for the defense.
