Zimmer not sure he wants to coach next year

Well, I don't know what Zimmer put into the boys' Wheaties last night, but I'd like to see more of it.

Haven't seen more savage hitting from a Dallas secondary since Bill Bates, Cliff Harris and Roy Williams were patrolling back there. Bucs receivers were limping off the field dazed & confused.

It always seems to take longer for guys to get the hang of a new defense, than it does a new offense. With Quinn's departure, it was all brand-new this year. But, the youngsters last night looked like they understood their assignments. It would be a shame not to see the project through.

The hours coaches have to put in are insane. Even more so when the team has struggled as badly as they did for most of the year and he’s trying to come up with scheme changes.

Another DC would be a setback imo. We need continuity in coaching...especially if MM is back. We don't need to waste half a season trying to figure out a new DC and his defense imo.
Agree, that’s why I would want at least Zim back….this D is a mash unit and has turned it around anyway….it takes time to gel with a new scheme. Gholston alluded to it after this game saying earlier in season players instinctively went to DQ stuff during the plays….took time to get instinctive with what Zim does and keep that discipline. Showing now. We don’t want to start over with another D guy AND a new O scheme which is really what we need (and a new Oline coach).

It’s insane how Belicheck did it so intensely and detailed for so long. Greats like Jimmy and Walsh could only do it so long before they had to leave. Belicheck did it hella long, and he’s ad detailed as one could be.

They kicked their ***. Check out their injury report when it comes out. They very well may have knocked a few of them out this week.

I don't think there is a single coach in the NFL who regrets their career choice and so-called "sacrifices ".

There are plenty of great coaches that get burnt out. They make good money as analysts, or are just done. The best coaches sound like they basically have no life outside the field. They may love it for awhile, but the perfectionists will burn out. You can’t keep logging that type of week before breaking. Just ask Jimmy, Parcells, Cowher, etc. Heck, ask Ranching from this forum. It’s not easy for their family to have an absentee father or to be one.

It is a core issue has been and will continue to be as long as the desperate yes men are hired and willing to do whatever Jerry wants, spineless sycophants that’s the core problem and the only type Jerry really wants
Of course but given this dilemma with our dysfunctional ownership what are the prospects of attracting better coaching.

Zim is engaging in equivocation. He wants to continue his DC job with the Cowboys, but he doesn't want to say it out load before Jerry offers it.

Too much young talent out there to keep a guy like Zimmer hanging on
One thing is for sure if he's not sure if he wants to be a D. C, there's no way he's going to be a head coach.

Other than the slow start, kind of expected with a new scheme, and all the injuries on D, Zimmer has not been that bad. The D has improved as the season went on.

Staying the same changes nothing, sometimes it’s just blind luck, unfortunately that’s the current state of the Cowboys. I’ll take my chances with a new coach who may be able to help the QB and team change.

Cowboys DC Mike Zimmer joked that “it’s been a blast” when asked if he has enjoyed this year being back in coaching. Dallas got off to a rough start, but Zimmer does not regret coaching this season.

“I’ve had fun. … But it’s been hard. I’m not gonna lie about that. It’s been hard.”

Does he like it enough that he wants to keep doing it?

We’ll see. Let’s wait until the end of the year and see where we’re at.

Seems more to me he is protecting his pride in case he isn't asked back. I for one am very disappointed in everything about this team including the defense, but I wouldn't have a problem bringing back Zimmer. It's the HC who has to go and take the OL coach and STs coach with him IMO...

That’s fine . I get it. It’s just difficult for me to look at this team and say our coaching is preventing us from more success.

Change will come with adding more talent and staying healthy.

He’ll be 69 by camp next year and has had past (probably present too) health problems. This should not surprise anyone. This is why I’ve been saying the talk of him being the next Hc is incredibly dumb.

Don’t disagree but MM had talent and we know what happened 3 times, that along with all his other game management problems along with penalties says to me he’s not the guy, merry Christmas stay safe enjoy the game not sure it will be on here with the flex.
