Zimmer>Quinn

I like what I saw out there and the defense looked more disciplined, but there were less 'splash plays'. We were getting countless interceptions and sacks against certain teams last year and it looked amazing to start off, but certain teams, especially physical ones, just destroyed us with their run game.

I like what I saw from Zimmer's defense, but we need to see more games, especially once OC's start to adjust and especially against more potent offenses. Quinn had us looking amazing to start the year off as well, but it tapered off later on in the year.

I know I know it was the browns offense. But it’s nice to see a coordinator who prioritizes stopping the run. Who will adjust.

Quinn’s defenses were fine… but face a team that got the ball out quickly or could run the ball and we got gashed. He had no answers. In my opinion Micah made Quinn look better than he was.
There were games last year where Quinn's defense looked absolutely dominant, including the opener. I mean, we shut out the Giants in last year's opener, the defense scored and we held them to 171 yards. It all comes down to, for both of them, how they do against the better offenses.

These casuals that make statements without realizing its inaccurate,

yeah maybe the large amount of the core players are still there but Mike zimmer's defense is completely different and the players we added yes in the offseason all the way up to the game one make this team better, just the linebacker core alone but overshone and Kendricks are one of the reasons we won the game Sunday they were not even on the team last year as far as playing...
Thank you.

all i can say is zims scheme will be better suited to battle shanahan's offensive schemes.

Well last year after the first game everyone wanted Quinn as HC after they demolished the Giants.....great win yesterday and D looked great.....too early to annont anyone at this time of the season.

I definitely think Micah made Quinn look better than he was, but I also think Micah will make Zimmer look better than he is

And I'll take it a step forward, if we were coming off 3 years of Zimmer and Quinn was the new DCoordinator, I think most people would have the Quinn>Zimmer take

But I will say with this current defense, I think we'll get better results than we did with Quinn

Maybe fewer turnovers, but maybe more stout and fewer big plays allowed

In comparing the 2, one has to remember tha Quinn was hugely overrated to begin with.
The 49ers and Packers had their way with our D, and Quinn the genius had NO ANSWERS.

Quinn got off to a bad start here when he pulled 3/4 of the starters his first year and almost lost the game. I think I was more mad at that than the Green Bay loss. He just didn't believe in stopping the Run either and loved switching to prevent before the half and at the end of games to let the other team score.

Washington is going to be in big trouble with him and I'm not at all surprised he blew a 28-point lead in the super bowl. Losers are always going to find ways to lose. I think that loss got him addicted to blowing games and he's done it ever since.

Dont forget how absolutely awful the D was before Quinn. We all overrated him because he was night and day better than what was here before him. That doesn't mean he did not do a good job, but because he made the D so much better - I think we all made him out to be greater than he really was. In the biggest games, his system is too easy to beat apparently.

And Zimmer has yet to win a big game

I’m just saying it’s one game, one game against a QB who hasn’t been good since 2022 and without their starting RB

Do this to SF in a few weeks and I’ll drink the kool aid, but right now I see them as roughly equal

Many fans wanted nothing to do with Zimm.......but it's way too early to say he's better than Q
Well I wasn't one of them, and after DQ's sickening performance with Green Bay, and after Zim's game against the Browns, I'm placing my money on Zim. At least Zim brought some beef to the OL and changed things up to suit the purpose as he went, and paid some serious attention to stopping the run, totally unlike DQ.
We'll see how it goes, but right now like I said, my money's on Zim!

I'll take my chances on Zimmer. If that proves to be a mistake in the long run, OK, but DQ was a dead end road. Period.

It's also nice having real LB's ... instead of a Safety posing as a LB.

Q's D was based on getting a lead and then pinning our ears back to attack the QB. But he had no answer to teams who could slug it out.

Disagree that they were fine. His D's worked only against poor teams.

:huh:how exactly is the defense the same as last year? Did you watch the game against Cleveland where they stopped their vaunted running game? I swear some people don’t watch the games and just look at the score.
...no kidding. THis defense is NOT like last years. From just one game. These guys stay in their gaps and rage to the ball.

We have a fun defense this year. Zimmer might be that key puzzle to getting them over the hump.

It was only game 1, but what I observed and appreciated the most was the variation in different alignments that allowed MP to roam and haunt Watson the entire game.
What I don't want to see is MP losing steam later in the season, so when you have the opportunity with a secured win, just start watching the minutes of your studs specifically.
It's a very long season.

Yeah, like polar opposite.
