Boy, fan sentiment on Mike Zimmer has really done a 180 in Dallas over the years. It's nice to see how much the guy has apparently learned in such a short time.

Wasn't Zimmer forced into running a 3-4 while here?
The media folks on twitter are absolutely holding a standing ovation for Zimmer finally getting his chance. I really hope he succeeds for all the support he's gotten.
Its really odd to see all the love for this guy from cowboy fans. When he was here I didn't see much at all. In fact it was the opposite. I've never been impressed with him. He's done well when he had a great dc as a hc. Bp and lewis. He wasn't great under campo or at atl. I hated his defenses when he was here and many cowboy fans did and now there is nothing but love for the guy. Just a little odd
Heck yeah. Super psyched to see an ex-coach here succeed somewhere else.
I love it when another team wins. Make us proud, Mike. Go Cowboys!
He was. He had a good year in the 4-3 when Parcels came in, then moved to the 3-4 without having coached it before and did another nice job under the circumstance. The guy's a good coach.
well this is not necessarily true.
Zimmer ran his defense in 03 and 04.
03 was a solid year and a great year to be a fan imo, I still am 100% convinced the defense was so good because of the group of qb's we played that year. I think it might be one of the worst groups of qbs anyone has ever played.
zimmer ran his defense in 04 and it was a complete disaster.
in 05 we transitioned to the 34. If zimmer was put at such a disadvantage he could have resigned. Just like Garrett right now.
zimmer stayed and did fine with the 34, I lost a bunch of respect for him after the 06 season when he went on deion sanders espn 103.3 radio show and ripped parcells, our secondary and how he HAD to run the 34...Poor him had to coach under a legend. His whining was no different than Ellis's whining about becoming an olb.
btw, the media loves zimmer I believe because much like I think avezzano did I think zimmer talked to the media a lot and gave them stories.
GROZ--are people pretending that wasn't popular movement here? Seriously, do people who blame everything on coaching ever look in the mirror?
That's right..I'd forgotten that (relevant) second season in the 4-3.

The Zimmer hire is a rock-solid example of the "Girlfriend Theory" we've long espoused on the podcast. It goes like this: Exiting a ghastly breakup, a guy's looking for the next girl to be an entirely new being from the woman who just shredded his heart. New personality, new quirks, new everything -- nothing that reminds you of the old one.
Out is Frazier's thoughtful, serene approach; in comes the fiery Zimmer, one of the league's more beloved loose cannons. As we learned from "Hard Knocks," Zimmer does not mince words.

He is a little like Rex Ryan who was overdue but turned people off due to his personality. I would not be surprised if he gets similar results.
