Hard to be happy about it. We’ve already been there with Zimmer. Jerry knows him and with McCarthy in the final year of his contract, Zimmer was probably the most interested in the job. He probably figures he could end up the Cowboys next HC which is a sickening thought. The DC isn’t going to matter anyway unless we getter bigger and more physical. Our defense will continue to be our downfall with our lack of size upfront and at LB.
Apparently you don't read, Ron Rivera and Rex Ryan were very interested in the job, granted they're about on the same level as Zimmer but I guarantee if you wanted to promote durde, al Harris ,or if you really made an attempt to keep Joe whit they would have been here...

that wasn't their plan they had a plan and it was one of those three because yes you need a season head coach to try to turn this around really fast and knowing that it might only be a one year deal...

So trust me they interviewed like 7 people they had plenty of options but yes knowing that we may only be doing this for one year it was gonna take one of those veteran coaches who may have thought deep down they have a possibility of taking the job from Mike McCarthy in 2025 but this isn't different than what most of the league does on a regular basis is past coaches around from team to team they're all retreads... It's very rare to see a young guy promoted or brought from college and it's not always a guarantee they're gonna do anything at all tell some of the big names from college didn't make it in the NFL recently...

Sorry, but hiring a geriatric defensive coordinator who’s been out of the league for 3 years and saddling him up to a lame duck head coach is the antithesis of trying to win next year.
He’s a good coach man.

It really doesn't matter.

If the team takes the same approach to the off-season they always do, we won't win any more games this year.

If they do change their approach and actually sign free agents, we still have a fundamental flaw at QB.
Then there’s no reason for you to be here other than whine huh.

It's a little concerning to know that no other team that needed a DC thought enough of Zimmer to at least give him an interview.

Ryan or Vrabel
BB would have been huge but that was never going to happen
Why? Ryan hasn't coached at all the last 7 years, and Vrabel only has 1 year as a D-Corrdinator, and it wasn't very successful.

his style of Defense will not work because we dont have the players for it.just look at our LBs and DTs,all are undersized, heck even Mazi is undersized now.To replace all of them is not possible.
That's my only question really. He's a good DC, but does he have the right personnel for what he does best? My assumption would be that he'll make Parsons a full-time right end in his 4-3. That will leave him needing at least a lead linebacker and one stout DT (possibly two if Hankins isn't re-signed).

I think Overshown can be the weakside backer and Clark might can be the strongside backer. I don't know if we have the pass rushers (other than Micah) that are needed for a scheme that relies more on the front four winning than being multiple and disguising the rush. Lawrence's best pass rush days are behind him, Williams hasn't shown much and Odighizuwa is a good rotation 3-tech but nothing more than that.

I do think he can work with the secondary we've got, but the front seven needs some retooling for his scheme.

give him a few games and the chants for his head to be severed will begin.

I could care more but I don't, I'm all in.

If he uses Parsons like that it will be the beginning of the end of his career. Zimmer needs be much more creative than that else why hire him?

I was hoping for Ryan and his multi-scheme D but we could do worse than Zimmer and his primarily man coverage. I do like press-man if your corners are tough enough.

I think considering our options zoom is a good candidate for this upcoming season. We will know more about McCarthy and whether he will be the coach in 2025 so for this one season I think Zimmer was a good hire. Your thoughts?
I’m mixed. On one hand we ran him out of town. On the other hand people like Darren Woodson hold him in high regard. I trust Woodson. Deion is high on him too.

So I’m cautiously optimistic. Part of me feels like this is a Jerry Jones comfort zone hire. Then there’s a part of me that puts a lot of stock in Woodson. So I’m 65-35 in favor of it. I also like the idea that Zimmer can play a 3-4 and a 4-3 defense so we might be able to keep Micah fresh and utilize him more in Zimmer’s scheme. So cautiously optimistic.

Yeah, so good, he's been out of the league for 3 years and hasn't had an interview for any position.

He's been out of the league 2 years (2022 & 2023), not 3, and it's highly unlikely he couldn't have got any interviews if he wanted them, so it's very possible he hasn't interviewed by his own choice. Maybe he chose to only make himself available if an opportunity that he was excited about came along.
