It is only going to look like they all dropped out as the #8 goes flying by. :laugh2:

Well when you are several laps down it just looks that way. :D

Don't be surprised to see the ol' #43 up front my friends. (I hope)

I hope so not only do I like Bobby but he races for the true King of NASCAR.

Sad when a "Cowboys loyalty" thread turns to nascar, .. I guess we see who does and who does not bleed blue & silver.

There are a number of events that get me through the off season.

1. The Daytona 500. Been watching it since I was a kid. Big time Tony Stewart fan since he is a Cowboys fan. Besides I like aggressive drivers. Big E will always be my all time favorite driver.

2. Next week there is a PGA tournament here in town. The top 64 golfers in the world are all enterred. I am trying to get tickets to that. I would like to see Tiger Woods, but I will be rooting for Jim Furyk because he is a UA Alum. The course they are playing plays well for guys who hit high and land it soft. Furyk doesn't do that, but he has played this course more than the rest so I am hopeful. My money would be on Mickelson though. He and Tiger play that style but Mickelson plays extremely well in Arizona.

3. Tucson Rodeo. My dad and uncle were professional bull riders for a couple of years when I was a kid. My brother David did it for a year too. As kids on the ranch we rodeoed too. I was never any good. Too big. Bull riders are small and strong. I wasn't a bad roper. Problem was I wasn't very good either. I was a heeler. That's the guy who catches the back feet. My family stayed involved in rodeo for years. Larry Mahan, a legendary rodeo cowboy once swiped my dad's bull rope (as a joke). My uncle made Ty Murray's bull rope. I got to meet a lot of the legenday rodeo cowboys as a kid and am still a fan of the sport because of it.

4. Spring Training baseball comes to Tucson. The D-backs, White Sox, and Rockies all call Tucson their Spring home. I try and go to at least 6 or 7 games each year.

5. March Madness. If there is a better sporting event in the world I don't know what it is. I love March Madness. I play in the office pools and I watch the games. I root for the Tarheels and my Wildcats.

6. The Masters. A beautiful golf course and tournament steeped in tradition and showcasing the best golfers in the world doing things I can only dream of. I expect Tiger to run away with it, but when he is on the brand of golf is beautiful so I don't mind. I do not dislike him like some do. I think he's a great ambassador for the sport.

7. The NFL Draft. This is my Christmas. Last year I went to the Draft for the first time in my life. Had a kick seeing all the sites with Juke and driving New Yorkers crazy. I would so do that again. Just 71 days, 22 hours, 25 minutes until this year's Draft. Yep, an addict.

8. The Kentucky Derby. Nothing like the run for the roses. Every year I read William Nack's tribute to Secretariat to get ready to see the best 3 year old thoroughbreds in the world set the racing world on edge for a potential triple crown winner. Love the derby.

9. June 1, the pre season football magazines start hitting the newstands.

From the time the magazines hit the racks until Training Camp starts I am in agony. Those 9 things help me get to that point along with this place.

Edit...

I forgot to add Wimbledon Tennis as # 10. Used to root for Martina Navratilova and Pete Sampras since they were Cowboys fans. Don't really have anyone since they retired who has stepped up. So I picked one person and watch her closely for a different reason.

Maria Sharapova. Nuff said.

ZONERS, now this is what I talking about!

HOS, I need to start thinking more "out of the box" and realize they are more things to do in life NOT associated with Dallas Cowboys........I am going to TRY different things.

Man, by the time you do all those things, Cowboys will be in training camp! :star:

Video games, it cures my Cowboys blues. Pop in some NFL 2K5 w/ updated rosters or a little Madden. Take the Boys to the Super Bowl yourself. :)

NASCAR helps, but it's just not the same... :banghead:

I usually spend my time looking for any snippet of NFL news available, and it gets to the point sometimes where I don't care if it's the fact that the Browns released a punter from their practice squad...

Are you folks miserable right now WITHOUT football--especially DALLAS COWBOYS football?

Actually, the drama being played out has kept me wrapped up in football right along... haven't had any withdrawals yet...

For those of you who LOVE THE COWBOYS--what is a good way to cope until it is time for the FA signing period, NFL combine, April Draft, mini-camps and thank GOD training camp is in my backyard again (SAN ANTONIO, TX)

Casual sex, drinking, casual sex, recreational drug use... that sort of thing...

OK, enough of the wise guy, here's how I pass the offseason:

1) I follow the Washington Wizards basketball team... been a fan of theirs since Wes Unseld was a rookie...

2) I follow the Baltimore Orioles... been a fan of theirs since Jim Palmer was a rookie, in fact he pitched in the first baseball game I ever saw live... I'll more than likely make the drive up to Camden Yards once or twice to take in a Sunday afternoon game (don't like going to night games, Camden Yards is a beautiful park but it's in a seedy, seedy neighborhood)...

3) NFL Europe... sure do wish the Boys would support that league with more players (though this year, with a whole new system about to be put in place, I'm kinda glad they're only sending over three)... I remember the spring that Clint Stoerner and James Whalen went over to Scotland, I was REALLY into NFLE that year... but I guess I'll have to amuse myself by following Jay Saldi's baby boy, and Akin Ayodele's "little" brother...

4) The majors (and I ain't talkin' tennis)... Masters weekend, US Open weekend, British Open weekend and PGA weekend, I'll be making maximum use of my TV as I follow the extended coverage the networks give these tourneys... Augusta National is simply the most beautiful golf course in the world, especially at that time of the year... the US Open is golf for sadists, I do enjoy watching those boys struggle to make par like the rest of us do, trying to hack it out of rough up to their backsides... the British Open is usually up in Scotland, and it's fun watching those boys in their sweaters in July... and of course, the wind has been known to blow JUST a little at that tourney, adding to the fun...

5) NFL Draft-- nothing less than a religious holiday (I am a SERIOUS draftaholic, with over 600 pages of printouts already assembled at this early stage of the process... I'll probably have around 1500 pages of printouts by draft day... I hate going to work that Saturday night, but I always forget to arrange in advance to get that Saturday off... it sucks working a graveyard on 2 hours sleep, at least at my age... LOL...

The combine is 5a), being part of the same process... I'll be recording the festivities as they happen, so that I can watch them at my convenience and not be TOO sleep-deprived at work...

6) March Madness-- but only as long as at least one of my 3 favorite college teams is in the mix... the UTEP Miners (who are extremely unlikely to be dancing in March), the Texas Longhorns (who are a good bet to be part of the field), and the Virginia Cavaliers (who were picked to finish 7th in the ACC, but were actually leading the league until the went down to Virginia Tech and got HAMMERED last week...

7) Abusing trolls... you have NO idea how therapeutic a good flame war with a troll is... lets you get ALL your hostilities out, in a socially acceptable manner... LOL...

Basically, you take your simple pleasures where you can grab them, and try to forget your withdrawal pains, and next thing you know, it's August, and life has begun again...

Am I the only one with the CRAZY problem? I have been accused of Bleeding Cowboy Blue and Silver! :star:

I'm told they have antibiotics that will clear that right up... :D
